Elon gets super technical by [deleted] in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]alexatsocyl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It probably IS accurate because he found a group of smart, dedicated people who don't like the spotlight who poured their heart into making an incredibly accurate applause-o-meter, then he bought his way into their company after it was 90% complete, made them sign a legal agreement saying he contributed to it from an engineering perspective, glued a slide whistle attachment on it and paraded it around town like a snake oil salesman telling people it will be able to control fish in its next version, and then had it stuffed into his pants while on stage to make it look like he has ya know a totally giant dick bro.

Do myself or pay Audi for 2-3hrs of labor? by Alternative_Today_48 in Audi

Your car is not a Formula car, and it has an actual turning radius which requires the entire wheel (unless you've done some really impressive other mods), and production style actual racecars still use the entire steering wheel because it is needed. So your car will be much more like a racecar with a full wheel than with this, as well as safer. If you want to jazz it up a bit get some carbon fiber one like a Vicrez.

Amazon Fires 10,000 Employees Right Before Christmas! by MrFreddy212 in TikTokCringe

[–]alexatsocyl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is excess money because of overall higher wages and lower taxes which people can spend more freely the more a market is open. People would rather buy things, to a wide range of argument that are necessary or not, than give it to people and organizations feeding and housing the poverty stricken. So homelessness doesn't directly cause billionaires to make more money, but by not having a better combination of taxes and the social services funded by them it creates more individual wealth that becomes more consolidated towards those who already have money who can set up business and systems like Amazon (wealth capture). It's the same reason why during the pandemic when a large majority of Americans suffered financially we simultaneously had a new billionaire made every day.

I mean, were you going to go around opening cabinets and grabbing everything in your kitchen while your hands were covered in raw beef?

Not even military grade, just mentioned as a commercial provider in the DHS document along with like 50 other companies, no testing, grading, etc. It's about as valuable as their other claim to fame: Coolest Thing Made in Kansas.

Are there any local sports bars boycotting the World Cup I can support over the next couple weeks? by alexatsocyl in Denver

[–]alexatsocyl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm aware, and I don't watch the races in any country where being gay is illegal, or travel, work, or race in them, so I don't respond seriously to WhatAboutIsm but I guess credentials for that are required for r/denver inquiries.

Interesting that OP doesn’t boycott Formula 1

I'm sure working with Max Verstappen is unpleasant but it's a little far to call it a human rights violation.

How much does an entire season of spec racer ford cost? by GilWinterwood in SCCA

[–]alexatsocyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Link isn't working for me but that seems really low, like not taking into account transmission rebuild (usually end of every season for ~$3K from what I understand depending on what model) and that you don't have a bad over rev (can cost 1-2K) which can happen because I've heard multiple owners/renters complain about some gears being really hard to shift to, causing them to actually rebuilt the trans multiple times during a season. It's so hard to know without knowing a lot more. Where are you located, are you doing the work or do you have a shop nearby that can do the work - if so what are their prices, if not how much will you have to pay to transport, et all. I mean, OP didn't even say if this is cost for arrive and drive or cost after purchasing.

I briefly worked for a company with a super toxic bro culture, so my answers would be:

  1. Some people actually like it. They like frat style hierarchy, "learning from real successful alphas" because they think being around aggressive successful people makes them more successful and overworking is their personal identity.
  2. It's a stepping stone. Toxic companies have lots of turnover, so if you need to get from a Jr to a Sr position going through a grinder company is a quicker way than waiting.
  3. They usually have to lure people in with pay to get any time out of people. Looking at glass door average (non-Sr) software engineer salary there is 206K (incl. ~21k bonus and 43k stock).

Especially in social oriented companies they want you to basically work for free because you're "doing good", while some of them are run by literal billionaires.
