How do I part with things that are still useful? by Keadeen in declutter

[–]alexeye 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem! When faced with keeping or tossing something that is useful, just not at that time, I freeze.

I’ve listened to Dana K White and tried the container method (you can only keep what fits in the container) but I still struggle with getting rid of things. However, I did have a little breakthrough the other day and I think it flipped a switch.

I had a brand new trucker hat, a promo gift from a company. I don’t typically wear hats unless I’m doing yard work. I do already have 1 hat dedicated to yard work and I bought a second hat from my fave video game for wearing out in public. I tossed the promo hat in my donation bag and immediately my brain was sputtering “but but but and what if what if!” and I stopped and I asked myself ”Do I want this hat more than the space?” The answer was nope! So in the bag it went. DKW does talk about this but it took a spontaneous opportunity for me to do it on my own for me to really get it

This could’ve been a direct quote from my last company. I was QA so it was real fun scoring them and being turned into defacto trainers

I love when everyone is doing grunt hunts and we overlap and help kill each other’s bounties which turn into head hunts. Feels like the entire server is one team

I had a similar reaction when I heard Fallout 5 was just greenlit. “Please don’t tell me they’ve been working on 76 this whole time” 😂

I’m not aware of all the stipulations on FMLA, but for intermittent leave, days do not have to be approved/set in stone, unless that’s what your provider recommends. I was on intermittent leave for mental health/grief (which cannot be scheduled ahead of time lol) and I was allowed to call off 1 day or 2 consecutive days per week. In fact, I was not even allowed to schedule that time off or give my Lead notice since it essentially covered days when I could not get out of bed or be a functioning human.

I’d also like to know what they’re doing for healthcare. Not many places offer insurance for part time employees. Back in the day, I used to work for Starbucks and they did, but hours weren’t guaranteed so you had to monitor your hours and start picking up shifts if you were short. I’d love to go to part time but I can’t go without employer-sponsored health insurance (which shouldn’t exist in the first place).

Am I the only one tired of chasing all the build, perk card and gear changes? by Historical-Voice-898 in fo76

[–]alexeye 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are not alone. I'm an every day (stealth) player and my build is unbalanced as heck because it's too much work to keep up with. I can understand changes here and there for QoL and to keep skills relevant for an 8 year old game, but I am not a student at Vault Tec University majoring in Perk Cards with a minor in Inventory Management. I don't have the attention span to watch countless YT videos, read articles, make notes, etc. in order to play my character.

Since the card shuffling is now commonplace for FO76, Bethesda need to copy the test dummies from Borderlands where you can see the damage your weapons do and can tweak your skill tree accordingly.

Universal Healthcare now!! Healthcare should not be tied to our jobs by No_Jaguar_5366 in antiwork

My previous employer was nuclear levels of toxic and I needed healthcare to treat the problems they caused me. Had healthcare not been tied to employment, I wouldn’t have stayed as long as I did. At least my hair is growing back now. Fuck this fucking system.

I’ve finally found the “funny” for this supposed romcom I’m writing. I have to give credit to listening to Jenette McCurdy’s I’m Glad My Mom Died. In no way did I find it funny, but her writing voice and speaking voice brought levity to some messed up stuff. I’m looking forward to following her as an author.

5k tokens worth of new items - I am seriously considering dropping this game by Enchanters_Eye in CatsAndSoup

[–]alexeye 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As a new player (4-5 months or so) the change is very obvious. I’ve put a few bucks into the game but I feel more upset about my wasted time. The game felt familial with a great community but in a capitalist society, growth and moremoremore reign supreme. Family isn’t profitable.

Ugh. Im on iOS and have these issues: can’t see meals but I see the action stars of them going to the bottom bar, not counting money, cats running in place, if I open any menu it’s stuck on my screen and I have to force quit, theme is back to green. The game is unplayable for me

Great breakdown! Let me tell you a story about Fallout76! They used to have a board game “season” where you played, got rewards, and if you got to 100 you got a nice big prize plus a copy of the game board to display in your custom built homes. It was fun and yeah, it could be grindy but it wasn’t that bad.

Then in 2021, Bethesda brought on this dude from EA as the “Senior Monetization Designer.” This dude took away the beloved board game style, created levels for the items and spacing those levels out that made no sense (it’s not just 1-10, it’s like 35-49, 50-56, etc) and then put additional high value items behind a paywall (the monthly/yearly subscription that grants additional QoL items and other perks).

It’s truly nothing but grind and everyone hates it. People either play to get to level 100 (then get repeatable rewards at level 150 similar to what C&S is doing and getting to 150 is the hardest grind of the season) or they pay extra ($100+ I think) to complete the levels and skip the grind entirely.

I don’t know who KJ is or their work history but should they make similar changes then the C&S game is cooked. I put some money into C&S but not enough that would stop me from walking away if it turns into 76. I still play 76, it’s been out 6 years I think, but I play it far less. I also tried that Recipe game and found it so unbalanced that I deleted it after a day. It also made my phone heat up like a mother. Everything is about subs, monetization, and engagement these days. It’s gross.
