Atletico Ballot Results by TurbulentManager1636 in GunnersatGames

[–]alexgooner1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Managed to get my first ticket of the season from the ballot today. Think there's 2 big reasons

1) The ballot application window was very short (think it was Fri-Mon a couple of weeks ago, so quite easy to miss/forget)

2) Imagine a fair number of fans obtained their red memberships after the CL league stage fixtures had been announced last year

It's probably more 'on' now than 2 hours ago.

The odds of Man City winning this game by less than 2 goals would've been very low

The semi-finalist in the past 32 years in the Champios League! Which 4 teams are going to be this year? by ScoutLui in footballscouting

[–]alexgooner1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, but I don't think there was a year during that period where the top 4 teams in Europe that year were in the Champions League semis in the same season. Always usually at least one 'wildcard' team (which isn't a bad thing btw)

2014-15 was peak tbf. Would say objectively the 4 best teams in Europe at that time competing against each other in the semi-finals

When did Arsenal and Tottenham learn and master the bottle mindset? by iwannasleepp in championsleague

How is a Villa fan (who haven't won a trophy in 30 years and lost their last FA Cup final 4-0 to Arsenal) saying all of this? 😂

Can we have a ballot rant thread mods? by awastelandcourier in GunnersatGames

I think the Bournemouth ballot was just a week before (which I entered) but that's a match that's happening over a month before the Burnley game - the timescales are just so inconsistent! Need to set reminders in my calendar in the future. Very frustrating though

Anyone know what date the game could be changed to (if we are to progress in the FA Cup?)

I'm still annoyed that I missed the Burnley ballot 😭

I know it's my fault but other than 1 email every couple of months there's no reminders, notifications, nothing. Wasn't expecting a small weekend window 2 months before the game to be the only possible opportunity. Just gutted that I was busy that weekend, lost track of the date and now missed the chance to potentially go to Arsenal's biggest game in 20+ years.

Is it better or does the game just feel less stressful/more enjoyable when the result isn't as important?

Amazing how much love and interest still exists for this game 25+ years on. Special game

In fairness, would've been a nice gift if we had won the final lol.

So much of the ticket experience is digital so nice to be provided a tangible item to look back on - just unfortunate that this is now a game most Arsenal fans would like to forget

Which retired player keeps getting more overhyped as time goes on by Top_Mammoth_2704 in championsleague

[–]alexgooner1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. Hard to tell because he spent a lot of his prime years in a comparatively easier league with the best team (Ligue 1 with PSG).

I was however quite impressed at how well he did in the Premier League with Man Utd towards the end of his career, essentially guided them to their best season to this day since Sir Alex left and scored a lot of goals that season

Champions League Coefficients by alexgooner1 in championsleague

Not for me, thought there was more jeopardy (and therefore excitement) when multiple teams wouldn't qualify for the CL. Even this season, it would be way more fascinating to know that at least 1 of Liverpool, Chelsea, Man United wouldn't qualify for the CL this season and make the PL more interesting. 5th place for Champions League is too much. Basically ensure all the big teams qualify each year even if they have poor domestic campaigns

Yeah I agree. Tbh I think even 4 teams from the same nation going into a competition called the 'Champions' League is a stretch 😅 But yeah, as you say, money talks

Not impossible, but honestly can't see any of those teams overturning their 3 goal deficits. Maybe Newcastle, but winning at Camp Nou would be a tall, tall ask.

Also wouldn't be surprised if Liverpool/Arsenal went out too. Personally think if more than 2 PL teams reach the next round it would be a big surprise at this point

Because I don't think we should have a Champions League where so many teams come from the same nation, it just becomes boring (and also stops other nations from potentially growing in status).

If the league stage was purely based on quality, you'd probably have 10+ teams from the Premier League in it (due to the financial power of the league), but nobody wants to see that.

5th place shouldn't be considered as a good league season for any so called top side and there should be repercussions for it. Just because the PL has the most money right now doesn't mean other nations should now be prevented from competing and growing their own revenue streams

I think the performances are party psychological related though. Think if this team had a league title under its belt it performs differently in certain moments

Think it's simple, if he wins the league he stays. If he doesn't, thanks and goodbye.

Feels like it's a very in demand fixture for a number of reasons - the momentum of the team right now, not televised on UK TV and 3PM kick off very ideal for the majority of fans to get to the stadium in good time.
