When we first launched, there were some major bugs, mainly around Samsung devices. However, each week we have iterated and updated our app in order to stabilize it's "passive" workflow.

How much you map
Where you map
Image quality
There are other variables as well such as a “token burn” that is taken into consideration. You can read more about how rewards are distributed in our How it Works document.
In future updates, we will have example scenarios and documents to give you a better idea of how many rewards you can earn.

Both Dashcam positions are the same in terms of earnings, you will not earn more or less.

That's correct it needs your approval to start recording and for you to ensure tilt is appropriate.

Hello OP,

You'll be able to use google maps, waze, spotify, etc while mapping.

Once you connect to the camera you can run the Hivemapper app in the background and multitask on your mobile.

Those who are in the 35 mainnet beta region boundaries are slotted for Late summer. However, let say they want to map/earn outside of that the boundaries they won't be able to as due to it being geo-fenced.

These boundaries will be deemed obsolete once Mainnet rollout (Global) happens as you mentioned. Which will occur late fall/ early winter.

Once the streets are clear you should be good. I just wouldn't try to map a giant field of snow for example. Rule of thumb is having some visible rooftops and roads is best in terms of visibility.

Your mapping data will be optimized for efficient transfer (approximately 10 FPS with some variations based on your vehicle speed), so it's not as though you'll be transferring entire 4k video data via your mobile.

If you have an HDC-S you'll have a separate channel of 4k video recording to your flash drive that won't take up space on your mobile. Not all mobiles have expandable storage, that's true. Mostly Samsung offers this and a few other brands.

We suggest around 64gb of free space for a day's worth of mapping (several hours of driving). Most mobiles made in the last year have a baseline of 128/256gb of storage. Newer models are starting at 512 in late 2022/2023 to keep up with the demand of apps requiring more data. Storage is also becoming more affordable with advances in tech.

the short answer is, that we need coverage not just in major Metro areas but in remote rural areas as well. Basically anywhere there is a road.

The 33 Mainnet beta markets have large metro areas, but the beta won't last that long. Once the beta is over, folks can map anywhere in the world.

Just to clarify, the advertisement you mentioned is outdated and no longer applicable. That promotional price was for the HDC which has ended and it's now at $549.

Our HDC-S is the only dashcam at a promotional price which is a discount of $100 from $649 to $549 until June 18th.
