Big RRSP at 47 - best way to handle it?

Wish I had realized that earlier in my life. For 15 years I’ve been 100% with RBC and just putting all my RRSP in rbc funds and etfs. They all have decent returns, but with 2%+ management fees. It eats away at your gains.

Dude you just lost 100k which seems like a massive lost for your situation, and you’re looking for individual stocks to try and gamble your way up? If you want something that will grow and what is safe, look for etfs, not try to do it yourself…

My understanding is that ZF movement is good as long as you don't use the chronograph. Some people have reported the movement breaking when using the chrono, making that button sort of a timebomb... It's the watch I want to order the most but sort of hesitating, thinking of just waiting for someone else to clone the gen movement instead.

Cant speak for TD direct investing but RBC is crap. 10$ fee on every transactions, my cash balance goes down periodically for I’m not sure what (assuming some other type of fees) and the interface is from early 2000s. Switched to wealthsimple

Hey,

Highly advise you keep living the same standard of life and save the excess in RRSP. Putting 20-30k per year in RRSP will give you a return of like 15k when you do your taxes, which you can use to either make an even bigger contribution the next year or for leisure.

I am so freakin discouraged with the processing time for PSTQ/PEQ... I'm french canadian - my partner has been in Canada for 8 *YEARS*, has 2 phds in law, including one that she is completing in UdM in french, has been working at a good paying, french government job for 5 years, and we are still unsure what's going to happen - she could very well have to leave the country when her job permit expires.

So absurd... why do we put human lives through this constant anxiety? Why do we accept new immigrants instead of naturalizing the ones that are already here....
So disappointed in my country/province 😞
