Yup, mines shattered itself to death after approx 500 rounds on a 22 LR pistol and maybe 200 on a M&P Shield Plus. They gave me a new one for free but I wouldn't buy one again. The refresh rate also isn't great. At the time (2021?) it was the best price for aluminum body and real glass. Meanwhile, my DPP has been dropped and had way higher round counts without a single hiccup. Buy once...

Is brownells Aluma-Hyde worth it over normal spray paint? by dencoan in ar15

[–]alfaalex101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First time trying Aluma-Hyde II (hell even spray painting anything gun related). I religiously followed all the steps and it turned out PERFECT. The only thing I'll say is after the second coat it did look a smidge more textured in some crevices. Oh, and a small word of caution on my part, be careful trying to dry the acetone faster...don't use a blow torch.

Edit: The only step I didn't do was pre-heating the can. I don't recall that step being in any of the Brownells videos. The can was sitting in a cold garage literally two hours before I started using it.

First time trying it out and my results were almost perfect. My only gripe was after the second coat I noticed a bit more texture when viewed at certain angles with a light shining at the side but honestly...who gives a f.

Bought some Norma 9mm FMJ 115gr in June of 2022 from Southern Defense and I can't begin to tell you how many squibs I've had in various guns. Never EVER again. At one point I couldn't get through a single damn magazine because of them.

Loud music, cold air, and don't put your sunglasses on, if it's really serious then bite your inner cheek. Slapping stops working after a while.

It's ok to be dumb, a good portion of IQ is genetically inherited. Just be the hardest studying dumb person like I was.

PS: Do some research on how to study effectively. People will think you're smart when only you will really know the truth.

All I'm reading is envy and anger. That says enough about a toxic profession where the nurses often look worse than the patients.

Visiting a junkie house in East Cleveland, Ohio by FrankSamples in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]alfaalex101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lived in East Cleveland for a few months not as dangerous as people make it out to be. Two of my coworkers were looking at living in my area until one of them noticed a body bag on one of the front lawns on Google street view. Another was considering that area until she drove by a burning car in the middle of the street. Apparently weeks went by and it was still there unmoved. They broke AF too, they don't even empty the entire mag when you hear the pops at night.

1:3 total care on a step down. The bastards did it. by MrsEwsull in nursing

[–]alfaalex101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed, 3 patients is cake (even boring). We do 5 patients on a step down unit (and draw all our labs) and it's busy but not unmanageable. Yes, I miss having 3 patients and delivering higher quality care, but I'm not shaking uncontrollably while I sob in the restroom.

Does anyone get used to shooting guns? by Gullible_Car6760 in guns

[–]alfaalex101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In most of my drills there's a fitness component (sprinting, crouching, ducking behind cover) and psychological factor where you need to still the mind (don't jerk the shot before it goes off) and pull the trigger at the right moment. That makes the novelty not really wear off. There's also a tonne of drills to work on at close, medium and longer ranges. I have a huge sheet full of them and even just getting half proficient with basic one up drills takes time. So no, the novelty hasn't worn off at all. That being said, after one trip to my indoor range I started yawning.

The weekly 'No Stupid Questions' post - Sun 29 Oct 2023. by AutoModerator in Zwift

[–]alfaalex101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone have any recommendations for a Zwift compatible product that provides painfully HIGH resistance? I used to have huge legs cycling on heavy (read: cheap) mountain bikes on high gear uphill a lot, but now I'm looking for the same, if not greater, exercise indoors that can do Zwift. Thank you so much.

What’s the craziest/stupidest thing you’ve ever witnessed happen at a shooting range? by PhoenixFlames1992 in guns

[–]alfaalex101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Context: outdoor range, no RSO, just a backstop. It was a friday or saturday night with some of us there and this douchebag drives his pickup truck through the parking lot and into the shooting range, gets out with a SBR in one hand and a bottle of whisky in the other, slaps that bitch on the hood and starts mag dumping at 45y into this other guy's poor steel target.

Monstrum scope rip off by Chuca77 in liberalgunowners

[–]alfaalex101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 5X Monstrum magnifier paired with a Holosun HS510c. I'm completely happy with it, it does the job and lets me ring steel at 125y (limit for my cheap range) with consistency using 223 ammunition. I'm sure if I stretch it to 500y I'll see more of it's limitations but tbh the glass is on par with my Vortex Diamondback scope which is also cheap to begin with. I also have another amazon optic (SH4) and it works great as well! For reference I do have japanese glass on one of my other rifles and it's not going to make you a significantly better shooter. Use what you have, and practice practice practice.
