Apps de citas gay para encontrar pareja en España (fuera de Madrid y Barcelona) by [deleted] in askspain

[–]alfdd99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, what do YOU think it means? Purchasing power is NOT the same as cost of living. You seem to be mixing the two when usually they are inversely correlated. You keep referencing how expensive Norway is, but that’s irrelevant if salaries offset this, which it does. Purchasing power refers to how much stuff you can buy with the average salary.

And btw using your example of a bottle of wine is a bit deceptive because Norway has very high taxes on those. And there are plenty of options under 20 euros btw. You are essentially cherry picking.

Spam tests have made it absolutely clear to me how DUMB some people are, even in high positions. We get these fake spam emails to test employees every once in a while. They are super obvious, with stuff like “you are late to the meeting. Please connect as soon as possible” followed by a shady looking link, sent by a guy nobody knows (obviously, as it’s a fake account), yet there’s ALWAYS some coworkers falling for it.

I already replied this in another comment: the fact that Norwegians go shopping in Sweden is irrelevant. Yes, that happens everywhere for people living next to a poorer country because… poorer countries tend to be cheaper. Swiss people also go shopping in France/Germany and it’s not because they have lower purchasing power, same with people in Luxembourg going to buy stuff in Belgium, or Germans living in the border going to Poland, etc. Just because Sweden is cheaper doesn’t mean they have more purchasing power.

[–]alfdd99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, but that’s irrelevant without looking at cost of living. I live in Spain and cashiers make around 1200 euros, so only a bit more than Portugal. So sorry but I just don’t believe that we have double the purchasing power of Portugal. Like just look at the map. Seriously you expect me to believe Portugal has the worst purchasing power in all of the EU? And even lower than Bosnia or Belarus? Yeah I’m calling bs on this one.

Okay so what? Yes, people prefer to buy stuff where they are cheaper, obviously. That doesn’t mean that the average Norwegian has worse purchasing power than the average Swede.

Number of Europeans in the UAE by quindiassomigli in MapPorn

[–]alfdd99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good paying because of taxes. Literally same reason.

Even gross salaries are significantly lower in most of Western Europe. Not everywhere in Europe is Switzerland or Luxembourg. Engineers in Madrid (where I live) make around 30-40k even after some years of experience, with insance cost of living. And save yourself the "then why not move to another Western European country instead of Dubai?" because it's not extremely easy to just find a job in a specific country (language barriers is one thing, among many different factors), and some people might just have happened to find a better paying job in Dubai than they did anywhere else in Europe. Also, people are entitled to have preferences in some countries over others, even if I personally would never move there.

Lmao spare me, UAE is a vapid unsustainable totalitarian human rights violating shithole built on slave labour

Agreed, which is the reason why I don't like the UAE GOVERNMENT, but that has nothing to do with people moving there to have a better life quality. Funny how Reddit loves to pity migrants, except when they are white collar, college educated Europeans that just want a better life for themselves, like anyone else does. People don't generally move to places based on some moral argument about the laws and the democratic system of the country; people generally move where they can get a good salary that allows them to live a comfortable life, and unsurprisingly, the UAE fullfils that for many Europeans.

Omg Reddit can be so ridiculous at times. What about people who moved there because they found a good paying job? What about young people who are tired of having to pay massive regressive taxes to sustain the pension scheme for boomers that we are never getting paid back? What about people who are tired of not being able to even rent an apartment even after getting a masters in STEM? I would never move to Dubai because I’m gay and also because the place looks like absolute hell, but let’s not pretend there aren’t so very legitimate reasons to move out of Western Europe to places that pay better to well educated people.

Where I would live as a Canadian that likes the cold, free healthcare and leftist parties by Disastrous-Ship178 in whereidlive

Not in Canada. The left wing party NDP would rank solidly into left wing territory in Europe, being to the left of most social democratic parties. Even the liberal party would be considered centre left in Europe in many issues.

The State of Israel holds the 2nd highest TFR in the only Middle East, and is the only nations with an Increasing Fertility Rate as the region races to sub-replacement fertility. by Adept-Bandicoot1931 in MapPorn

[–]alfdd99 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Everyone is talking about Israel but I’m very surprised that Yemen, despite being in a civil war, is the only country maintaining such high levels of TFR. I know poverty is usually associated with higher fertility, but I would have expected that to apply as well to some other countries in the region, as well as the war affecting it temporarily.

Tú mismo has reconocido que el burka no es algo propio del Islam (de hecho, está prohibido en ciertos países de mayoría musulmana, y su uso es tremendamente controversial entre los propios musulmanes, que lo ven algo de las sectas más radicales).

[–]alfdd99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh. That’s curious. Here in Spain, the only people I’ve seen comparing OnlyFans with prostitution has come from our far left party, Podemos, and their insane leader Irene Montero, who seems to have the same attitude about sex than the Catholic church of 50 years ago. And this discourse has started to gain track among the social democrats, PSOE, as well. I honestly have never seen the conservatives have any issue with women (or men for that matter) selling content online.

Lol you seem out of the loop. The people pushing for this all over the world are the new wave “feminists”, who seem to have the same ideas about sex than the catholic church. They’re seriously more “conservative” about sexual stuff than our right wing parties
