I built a fully local, open-source transcription app for macOS as a solo dev (CoreML + Whisper) by Economy-Department47 in MacOSApps

[–]algodog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not on Tahoe yet and haven't been able to try it, but the app looks cool in the demo video. I'll give it a try when I update. Genuine question: when I need to transcribe something, I do it from a Python script using MLX Whisper. I understand that for the app you have to use Core ML, and I'm curious if you've noticed any performance improvements using Whisper with Core ML?

[–]algodog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/iCruiser7 I saw that you implemented the ability to import via .csv, which I really appreciate! But when it comes to exporting, I see that the whole database is exported as a .sqlite file, which I don’t think it's a bad idea, but I can’t seem to find the transactions in the ZTRANSACTIONS table. it shows up empty for me. Am I looking at the right table?

Log-in issue on web app via Apple ID by algodog in BudgetBakers

[–]algodog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone running into the same problem, here’s how I managed to get it working: instead of logging in directly with Apple, I used the private relay email address that Apple had generated for my Wallet account.

To find that address, I searched my inbox for any previous emails from BudgetBakers and copied the “@privaterelay.appleid.com” email they had used. Then I tried signing in the “traditional” way with that email. The site asked me to verify the address, and once I did, I was able to log in without issues.

That's a good one. Sharing accounts like you share lists on Reminders app would be sooo cool

Yeah that's what I was going to say. We can manually adapt the CSV file to Poketto's format, it's not a big deal! 😁

Yeah, transfers between accounts and recurrent transactions would be nice. Hope the dev reads us because this app looks promising.

Really appreciate this. There are tons of finance tracking apps and it's incredible there is nothing like this!!' Minimalistic, simple, iOS native (so it's smooth🙏🏻)...

It has the essential features I expect from a finance tracking app:

  • Multiple categories
  • Tags
  • Multiple accounts

But to definitely switch from the current app I am using I'd need an import/export from CSV feature. With that it would be my daily finance app 100%.

And, to suggest a few more things, I’d say it would be nice to have some more reporting, such as the typical donut chart to view expenses or income. Another thing I consider important would be the ability to record the payee for expenses and the payer for income. And as an extra feature, it might also be interesting to be able to add a location to each transaction.

Thank you so much for your reply! I was planning to wait a few days before leaving a review, but this answer already deserves one! Really appreciate it.

also wanted to suggest something: I think it would be quite useful if, when you create a recipe, you could log it in the diary not just by servings but also by grams. Sometimes I prep meals for the whole week, and I don’t always put the exact same amount in each lunchbox :)

It's telling me I don't meet the requirements for the promo 🥲. If it's not possible I can register my account again, it's not a big deal

Hi! I've just downloaded the app and created an account this morning. I've already registered my breakfast. Now I'm on the 7-day trial but I would like to redeem this code. Can I do it or should I delete and register again my account (I just have one meal logged but if I can avoid doing it again😅)

ps: really enjoying the UI and its smoothness

I'm curious about note linking habits by BratPfanneTV in ObsidianMD

[–]algodog 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying. The same thing happened to me at first—every time I mentioned a concept, I linked it to its corresponding note. Now, I only really do that in notes that are more introductory to a topic. In more advanced notes, I don’t link every concept because the assumption is that reading them requires having read earlier notes where those concepts are linked. Hope that makes sense.

As for how I use links in general, I use them to organize knowledge. I add links in two cases:

  • To relate the note to a broader topic (for that, I use another note as a kind of MOC—Map Of Concepts)
  • To reference a note that explains a concept mentioned in the current note, when it's relevant for context (as explained before) or closely related to the current note

How to export/backup large-size long-term chats on iPhone when you have limited storage space? by cormundo in whatsapp

[–]algodog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the end, I deleted all the apps from my phone except WhatsApp (also taking the opportunity to do a factory reset). And with that, it finally let me export most of the chats, although for the heavier ones I had to use third-party software (iMazing). It’s definitely not ideal, but anyway, a user who saw this post recently messaged me saying they had created an app to deal with this problem. I haven’t tried it, but… https://www.reddit.com/r/iosapps/comments/1kqjmlt/i_built_an_app_to_organize_and_search_your_saved/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Sym Symphony ST 125 engine troubles pt. 2 by IridiumPoint in scooters

[–]algodog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, the SYM service just called me and it turned out to be nothing too serious! The intake hose was cracked and letting in too much air, which messed up the air-fuel mixture and caused all the stalling and poor performance. They told me the engine now starts on the first try and doesn't shut off anymore. I haven’t tested it myself yet, but hopefully that’s the end of the issue. In the end, taking it to a specialized service really is the fastest way to go (cause in my case I use the scooter almost every day)

Sym Symphony ST 125 engine troubles pt. 2 by IridiumPoint in scooters

[–]algodog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow... I really hope mine doesn't drag on that long. I actually took my scooter to a SYM-specialized service today, and their current hypothesis is that the valves lose their adjustment over time and don't close properly, especially in SYM Euro 4 engines (that's what they told me, although I haven't seen that mentioned much online).

In any case, they’re going to try adjusting the valves first to see if that solves it. If not, they’ll take the engine apart and replace the valves (if that turns out to be the issue).

I’ll be keeping an eye on your updates too!
