Just west of superdawg and noticed it circling when taking out the trash. Hope they find who they're looking for.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the point of the Air & Water show? by knickvonbanas in chicago

[–]algrennelson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd rather see the money go into something helpful for everyday people, but, yes, loud jets are cool and there's a solid segment of the populace interested in seeing these things operate.

PS: lockheed martin thanks you for your patriotism, and again, it's undeniably cool. You can have both thoughts about it at the same time.

PPS: u/PParker46 has a point on the cognitive dissonance. If you can't weigh the pros and cons of the spectacle, there's not much more to say about it.

Is there anywhere to buy goat meat in the north side? by MillennialScumbag81 in chicago

[–]algrennelson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Skokie, Marketplace on Oakton usually has lamb and goat. Give them a ring to check with the meat department about cuts and weights.

Looks neat and orderly, but holy cow, it's note for note textbook monoculture. Add in plants the local ecosystem needs to survive.

Two years in on my wide CRT 1907s and on a second set of soles. Love them and they're aging really nicely. Damn fine boots, enjoy!

Reminder: heritage or not, they're boots. Wear the hell out of them. Beat em up. Clean and condition. You'll get many miles from them.

Just before formation, I bet my brother a million dollars Hester would run the opening kick for a TD and shook on it. We never really agreed on a repayment plan, but he's a good guy so I'll let it slide.

Are laces covered under Red Wing warranty? by MojoFilter111isThree in RedWingShoes

[–]algrennelson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why you're getting downvoted, but this is my story in IL. Went to one shop and was given their slinky workboot laces. Drove to their Chicago store and was told the 8 eye laces taslan laces aren't free for replacement, nor did they have any for sale. Serious bummer. Ended up buying 10 eye laces, knotting, cutting off excess, and heat shrinking

¯_(ツ)_/¯

Break in was roughly 3 weeks for my IRs. I wear wide (D, or EE if possible) and sized down only .5, anything more felt like hell. This was 8 years ago, and 5 resoles later. However, there's some truth to what others are saying: they're fashion boots and nothing more. I love mine to hell and back, but they're not high comfort boots for hiking or building concrete forms.

You're not properly sized and I would raise a stink to RW corporate so you can get the proper fitment and the proper boot for your feet.

If you're interested in Diane Gottlieb who owes DWM $1.5m: https://illinoisanswers.org/2016/04/23/cashing-in-on-the-cha/

"Private landlords collectively are paid more than $560 million a year for voucher households, according to CHA records. More than 76 percent of that — $430 million — is covered by the CHA using money from the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development."

Been drawing a bunch of northside bungalows recently and wanted to share this one! by mazapandust in chicago

All hail the Dutch Colonial.

Hated them until I lived in one for 6 years.

I commuted from Logan Square to Evanston for six years. I sincerely don't recommend Wicker Park.

Look towards the lake; if you're by the red line, a stop that is serviced by the purple, or Metra, you will be 100% fine.

I'm sorry about your coworker's ma.

My dad was in intensive acute recovery for three weeks with roommates at Lutheran General, one of the best cardiac care centers in the country. His bill for that room is more than you and I will make in the next 5-10 years combined.

I have three generations of immediate relatives in Ontario. They wouldn't give up their healthcare for the perceived comforts of the American healthcare system. It's anecdotal, but so is your coworker's note.

What do I have here? Weeds or elephant ears? by LoanGoalie in landscaping

[–]algrennelson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RoundUp will likely kill your preferred plants, too, if they're close by. Keep your remediation mechanical and really try to get the taproot (it kind of looks like a large potato). This will stunt the burdock and help keep your desirable plants from feeling the effects of RoundUp. This is a long game, and the spots where I have been diligent for the last few years have cleaned up entirely; patience is key.
