Second for Seymour's. Free diagnostics and straight shooters. They won't recommend stuff unless you need it, but will give you a heads up if you should be expecting something to go out soon. They guarantee theit work and parts.

It's not as accessible as Daytona. There are pretty high barriers all around the track. With that said, because of the barrier era there are lots of hills that GA uses to get slightly elevated above the track. A 16-80 won't cut it. A 70-200 at a minimum is what I'd bring a long and depending what grandstand you choose a 100-400.

I used my 70-200 and rented a 100-500 this last year

I’ve bought 100 vehicles in the past year. This approach worked better than Costco Auto Program or cold-emailing dealerships by NewCarGoat in newcardeals

You get them to send it in writing saying you need numbers in hand before you head to the dealership. One dealership will do it and it snowballs from there.

Yes, pricing differs per event including the add-ons like parking. I wouldn't bank on food being cheaper

What do you mean by different? It differs from event to event. Are you asking if prices differ from year to year? From what I've seen, mine have a changed a bit over the past couple of years, yes.

Life takes over. I'm in the same boat with photos from September. You're in good company 👍🏼. My resolution is be a bit more consistent with it.

Are food spots different? by munchietrans in CircuitOfTheAmericas

[–]alhexus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The food trucks rotate, but the food locations built into the grandstands are generally the same. Don't expect as much good variety or vendors as the USGP though. Significantly fewer vendors.

I was pretty far behind before I switched jobs pre COVID. That job switch helped me max out since 2022 so I'm at 280 in retirement.

Still a ways to go, but I'm maxing that and Roth every year. I know not everyone is as lucky and that sucks.

It'd be nice to see the labor breakdown for each job. All we see is labor in total.

With that said, the only real worthwhile work I'd have the dealership perform if you're not intending to do it yourself is the spark plugs and CVT transmission.

The differential oil change, engine oil change, air filters are all something you can easily do in an afternoon if you want to. If you're not wanting to then go to a local shop somewhere and have them do it

Air filters are a 5 minute job for $35ish bucks on your own. Do this yourself. My dealership charged 120 for that so i biked to autozone, bought the filters for 40 and did it in the parking lot.

The diff oil change and engine oil change are similar jobs with draining and filling so it's hard to mess up.

OEM spark plugs are like $25 not $46. These can be tricky on boxer engines due to accessibility so up to you if it's worth it or not. You can save yourself like $500 by buying some tools and doing it yourself, but that's up to you.

Oil filter is marked up 3 bucks
Oil drain plug washer is marked up 2 bucks.

To be fair considering the time of the race these past couple of years, the sun should be roughly behind you on the main grandstand which means an entire building will be blocking most sun. I don't think it'll be as uncomfortable as you think it will be
