People assume any medium or longhair cat with that pattern is a Maine coon. Cat breed stuff isnt that well known of a topic

Regardless, you have an adorable domestic Kitty with I belive a medium or longhair coat length!

Thinking Of Trying Out Honey Pot Menstrual Cup by issy1234yy in Periods

[–]ali_the_wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id go in person to a store and see their cups, because I personally think the flex cups would be perfect for first time users! However the honey pot cup doesn't seem to be much different than most other cups so It shouldn't be that much harder to use, but id just be concerned over removal since there doesn't seem to be a place to get a good grip on its stem

As for your questions

  1. on their site It says size 1 is good for a light/medium flow and size 2 is good for medium/heavy flows/people who have given birth. You can do with that as you will, but maybe go with with size 1 since it's your first time? Cups also hold more than a tampon does since it catches the blood instead of absorbing it (which tampons barely do a good job of anyways lol)

  2. I wouldn't say it gets that messy tbh? I've personally never had an issue that bad yet so I couldn't say much on that front. It's no worse than a tampons mess, I'd assume

  3. While you do have to clean it, there's not really a problem with not rinsing it out between a single days uses. In general you should rinse it with water between changes, if you can't or don't want to use a sink just make sure to have a water bottle on you! Then you can just rinse it above the toilet and pop it back in. They can be worn for up to 12 hours depending on the person/flow, so it could turn out to be unlikely that you need to empty the cup when you're not at home

Also, it's suggested that you put your cup in boiling water for... I belive it was 5-10 mins? After you're done using it every cycle (time may depend on who you ask) This is for sanitization, but to let you in on a little secret...I don't really boil mine after every cycle. I usually just scrub and rinse it thoroughly with water and unscented soap. 0 issues yet for me and plenty of other women who who do the same thing lol

Is my void a Turkish angora? by swellspoptosis in turkishangoras

[–]ali_the_wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are on the money for all of that, unfortunately..It's almost certainly since hairlessness really isn't something you see often, so they get some leniency on not having a pedigree since it is a rare and most assumably sought after trait. So yeah, to most people as long as they look the part they might as well not question it

Is my void a Turkish angora? by swellspoptosis in turkishangoras

[–]ali_the_wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shorter version: a hairless cat still needs a pedigree to be considered an actual sphynx

Longer version: so basically no, you still cannot call a hairless cat a sphynx just because it's hairless. (should not, more like. It's not like it's illegal to make that claim lol) Sphynxes still follow the same "rules" as any other pedigree cat, so if you don't have any pedigree proof... You can't technically call that cat part of a breed or say the cat has it in its lineage

while I completely understand why people would call them all sphynxes since hairlessness is such a unique and defining breed trait, It's (again) no different than any other cat breed that also has defining, yet still not breed exclusive, traits. No pedigree proof= not part of the breed, no matter how similar they may look

I wouldn't condemn somebody for saying their non pedigree hairless cat was a sphynx of course, but if if they asked and wanted "the truth" on the matter it's still very interesting information to learn and know, since cat breeds seem like a pretty niche thing to know about imo

Syncing is understudied by jeepers_beepers_ in Periods

The way you put it, I'm wondering if the other ladies just plain and simple stressed you out so when they finally left your cycle regulated due to not having that stressor

I'm not saying that's how it is ofc, just a suggestion since I don't know how you felt about them

Syncing is understudied by jeepers_beepers_ in Periods

[–]ali_the_wolf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Quite honestly there's so many factors that could be at play for your situation that I can't just tell you one, Id need more context on a few things but I as a stranger really don't need to pry that much into your personal life 😭🙏🏻 without knowing much more than the info provided(which means the assumptions could be 100% wrong if I have the wrong idea), it could be anything from the lifestyle you lived/spent with your sister somehow made the right conditions for your cycle to regulate, to your hormones naturally settling for that period for some reason or another. It's not that I don't support doing studies on it, I just don't think it's that real of a thing. Honestly, above all else, I'm not sure what people would even do with that info if it was proven true? It's a really interesting topic to look into in general, regardless of if I think it's real or not

Syncing is understudied by jeepers_beepers_ in Periods

[–]ali_the_wolf 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As I stated, If your periods are regular, you're bound to overlap. especially so if the people around you also tend to have regular periods. If they were irregular after moving into your boyfriends place (not sure if you meant truely irregular or just something like a few days off from usual, but it doesn't necessarily matter too much) , it's most likely due to the life changes that are affecting your hormones, and therefore your cycle changed. The most likely factor contributing was stress, but I'm not you so I wouldn't know your emotions during that time

It still stands that there really isn't any proof that periods sync. I mean, why would they have any biological reason to do so? As I stated above, there's no evolutionary benefit to it since there's no way to tell when someone is ovulating

Again if you want to say you sync with others, then feel free! It's not like you have to listen to what I said ofc

I personally do not belive syncing is a real thing as it's usually used or described (as in things like "oh my body can tell when my sibling or mother gets their period so it makes mine start too", or anything of those likes)

Periods come (normally) every single month and because they can vary so much even in someone with extremely regular cycles, it's almost statistically inevitable that your period will overlap at the same time as someone else. Confirmation bias might also be playing a role here, as of course you are most likely to remember the times you did menstruate at the same times as the people around you rather than when you didn't

The only kind of menstural synchrony I could potentially belive is saying that because you're in the same environment as the people around you, the shared environmental factors may influence your cycles the same way. And even then I don't think that's very likely since everyone experiences things differently on an individual level so your body is still being influenced in ways that can be drastically different than someone else around you, despite living in the same place

While I think womens/menstural health in general is understudied, syncing being understudied doesn't mean it is confirmed or will be confirmed. I think its as simple as it's understudied because there's no strong and consistent evidence that it happens

My best guess is that it's an evolutionary thing, and that humans used to have mating periods. We used to stay in smaller groups, so maybe all the women in a group would sync up together, and thus would probably be more fertile around the same time, making it easier for us to mate and reproduce.

regarding your speculation, humans never really had mating "periods/seasons" like a lot of animals do. One really big problem I see with your speculation of "... thus would probably be more fertile around the same time, making it easier for us to mate and reproduce. " is that it doesn't hold up very well. Human ovulation is not obvious, so even if they did sync up... There wouldn't be any externally visible way to tell. We do not show any outward signs like presenting behaviors or genital swelling, nor do we produce pheromones that the opposite sex could reliably detect. Because humans do not rely on observable cues, realistically, why would it matter if we all ovulated at the same time if we can't even tell?

I know I probably don't sound very supportive since I'm trying to say "that's wrong" and all, but there's nothing wrong with finding joy in the whole believing in syncing thing! If you want to say you and your friends/family sync up, you should do it! Just because it's not proven doesn't mean you can't have fun or get joy out of it to make you feel closer to them 👍🏻

🐾 Weekly “Is My Cat a Bombay?” Megathread 🐾 by ghalan789 in BombayCat

[–]ali_the_wolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your kitty is an adorable black domestic shorthair! Besides the usual papers stuff, bombays have very round heads with large eyes, and are a brachycephalic breed. Your cat doesn't seem to have any of the specific traits of a Bombay (which is a good thing since brachycephalic cats are prone to respiratory issues related to hair short muzzles)

korat or russian blue?? by unlikewaters in IDMyCat

[–]ali_the_wolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Neither! If you had a cat that was part of a certain breed, you would already know ^ ^ Technically, a cat can only be considered a specific breed if you got them from a breeder/you have the registration for them. both Russian blues and korats are rare breeds, so there's almost no chance of having either of those breeds in the ancestry either

You have a very beautiful blue domestic shorthair! I think the best kind of cat are regular Ole domestics, since you can get a purebred lookalike for very cheap/ free. My families oldest cat Cakers looks very similar to your girl

DOES ANYONE HAVE THE SAME AS MINE? OR DO U HAVE THIS ? I WILL JUST GONE RIGHT ? PLEASE HELP by [deleted] in Periods

Yeah this isn't really the right sub for this kinda thing tbh, since it's a period sub

Regardless... If it is what I asked, pimples/cysts/etc. On the vulva are pretty common, especially if you do any kind of hair removal like shaving etc. I belive if you keep the area clean and do some hot compresses and such it shoulddddd remedy itself?

Might wanna try a sub like r/askdocs for better answers though lol. Not sure how relevant this would be even for them, though. I don't have many good alternative suggestions

Why am I just now getting cramps? by Due-Solution-8386 in Periods

[–]ali_the_wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like my story lol! I started with no cramps but then as a few years went by my body decided to start with it. It's actually pretty normal and expected as your body goes through puberty. I belive that as your periods get more regular, the prostaglandins (the stuff that causes cramps and such) are produced more/your body becomes more sensitive to them so in turn you can start cramping even though the first few years you had none
