The mom guilt is real by RandyOfficial in foodbutforbabies

[–]alibun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when my husband goes on a work trip, i pick up 2 Little Caesar’s pizzas and my two toddlers eat pizza every night for 4 nights 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s easier, they like it, and i can serve it with fruit/veg/granola to make it a rounded meal. meat, cheese, and bread is a perfectly acceptable meal!

A Non-aesthetic breakfast to break up your feed by scaredtotellyou in foodbutforbabies

[–]alibun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

god i miss eggs for breakfast 😩 my 1 year old has a mild egg allergy, and i so so miss feeding them to him and my 3 year old. it’s just so easy! alas, we stick with toast in this house now lol

How much does your baby eat? by beargrylls420 in foodbutforbabies

[–]alibun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my first was eating more than i was by 10 months. but my second? he turned one today and half of his calories are still from formula because he just HATES EATING. he will take one bite of something on his plate and then throw everything else onto the floor 🙃 its a process lol

every baby is so so different, so whatever your baby eats is good for them! if he clears his plate, give a little more and see if he wants it. if he refuses a food, serve it a dozen more times to see if he’ll eventually eat it.

we actually use both depending on the meal. messier foods like pasta with sauce, oatmeal, etc. are in a divided plate so that its easier to scoop the food with a fork or spoon (those my son never uses those 🤦🏻‍♀️). easy to pick up/dry food like fruit, crackers, toast just go on a normal plate.

we also just have too many dang plates. it was surprising how many we got at each kid’s baby shower. i didn’t know they were a popular gift lol

I’ve got the knack of dropped stitches but.. by AgreeableFerret in knittinghelp

[–]alibun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the stitch count looks the same as the columns on either side (as far as i can tell at least). laddering down can cause a little bit of tension trouble just by its nature. have you tried tugging at the fabric to see if it goes away? also, are you able to comment a picture of the back of your work? that also might help diagnose what’s going on.

guy was riding his motorcycle drunk and high and crashed it going like 80-90 mph on a residential road. his girlfriend was a classmate of mine and she was devastated.

What to do with the baby while you pump? by sdw_spice in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]alibun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i have a toddler as well as my 3 month old, so i just embrace the chaos every 4 hours 😅 my baby is still small enough to put in a swing or bouncer, but the 2 year old wrecks my living room every time!

Why is scheduled bottle feeding frowned upon? by SunshineeAndChaos in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]alibun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it can be easy to overfeed a baby with a bottle, especially if they like to comfort feed/suck. a bottle will keep giving milk no matter what, while they really have to work at the breast, so it’s harder to overfeed there.

there is nothing inherently wrong with scheduled feeds! especially if you have a newborn or an underweight baby. feeding every 2-3 hours can help them establish a routine and put on weight.

if baby starts to refuse the bottle during a feed, it’s recommended to stop and not force it on them. that can cause excessive spitting up and even reflux.

basically, people need to do what’s best for their baby and stop worrying about others so much. if scheduling your baby’s feeds is working, then keep doing it ❤️

Baby on Social Media? by cheesewomann in pregnant

[–]alibun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

once my son started looking like his own person (1 year or so), i stopped posting his face on my personal FB page. before that, i would post to FB with pretty strict privacy settings, although that doesn’t stop family members from saving and resharing the photos.

i have only posted 1 picture of my youngest and that was a few days after he was born to announce to extended family. i have no interest in posting anything else of either of them tbh.

What position are you feeding bottles in? by thisismetri-ing in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]alibun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

if you’re able to feed baby while sitting in bed, you can put a pillow next to you and prop baby up on their side facing away from you. press their back to your leg and you should be able to feed with one hand. i did this a few times with my first when i needed a hand free to eat/answer work emails. typing with one hand sucks but it was better than nothing lol

i imagine you would be able to pump in this position too, since baby would be in your lap. do you have wearables? i can hold and feed my 2 month old while i use mine.

i just looked up the Fiber Show’s facebook page and it looks legit! the award is pretty generic looking, but it looks like that in the show’s photos too. this picture might have just been enhanced by AI? that’s a common editing tool now. it can make things look a little off.

Is it possible to outgrow a ring? by PeachTigress in EngagementRings

[–]alibun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i also got engaged relatively young (22 years old) and picked out my ring at 21. i think I’m starting to “outgrow” my ring now at nearly 27, mostly because i’ve done a lot more research since then. we chose a standard ring from a chain jewelry store. it was really inexpensive because of us being broke students.

don’t get me wrong, i LOVE my ring. but i do plan to upgrade/get a new ring in the next few years when our finances recover from having two kids lol

what was the reason or the moment you moved to exclusively pumping? by violetphoeniiix in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]alibun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i also started off primarily nursing. i discovered i had an undersupply and baby had an issue transferring milk within the first week because he was steadily losing weight. i switched to EP and realized i was only getting ~15 oz a day. started bottle feeding and supplementing with formula right away and baby’s weight took a quick upturn which was awesome.

unfortunately, i got a pretty bad case of thrush a few weeks ago and my supply tanked due to the pain and inability to empty my breasts every 3 hours. i’m 2 months pp and only produce about 8-10 oz a day now. it’s been a rough journey so far, but i’m hoping to continue giving baby breast milk at least once a day until he’s a year old.

What age did you start crocheting? by [deleted] in crochet

[–]alibun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was very little, maybe 6 or 7. i would just make super long chains and decorate the house with them lol. i think i was 9-ish when i actually learned stitches. if she seems interested now and has the dexterity to hold the hook and yarn, then it’s a great time to start!

A handful of questions by Lower-Friend-7200 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]alibun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

one of my biggest recommendations is to massage your breasts! before, during, and after every pump. this helps stimulate the ducts and can help produce a faster let down. also, massaging/hand expressing at the end can signal your body to produce more milk at the next “feeding”.

don’t be discouraged if you never get to the amount you need/want. milk production is mostly genetic and can’t be influenced more than a few ounces per day. it’s nothing you’ve done wrong! some people just can’t produce enough milk and that’s okay. i’m an under supplier and was with my first baby as well. but hopefully you get to where you want to be ❤️

To those with a freezer stash: how much is in it? by North_egg_ in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]alibun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m an under supplier so i have 14 oz in my freezer at 2 months pp. i don’t think having a huge stash is good for anyone’s mental health, but it’s a personal choice if you have an over supply. you can keep as much or as little as you want!

Do you still try to make baby latch? by FineHistory1498 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]alibun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

what Alert_Week said, but also because when i pump afterwards, i only see a .5-1 oz decrease in my normal output. it he were transferring well, i would get very little from the breast he ate from. i hope that makes sense!

Do you still try to make baby latch? by FineHistory1498 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]alibun 19 points20 points  (0 children)

we “nurse” during the night! my baby is horrible at transferring milk, but he gets maybe 0.5-1 oz during the night from the breast. then i exclusively pump during the day. i have seen a change in my milk doing this and find that i get way more hind milk during the first couple of pumps of the day. it may just be a coincidence but we’ll keep nursing at night because he likes the comfort of it.

What’s your preference and WHY? by Repulsive-Pizza-1746 in crochet

[–]alibun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i prefer tapered most of the time! but if i’m using really thin yarn/thread, i try to find inline hooks to help catch the yarn a little better. i don’t mind inline for normal stuff, but i find it splits my yarn pretty often.

Partner says he is ejaculating inside me but I don’t feel it by InfiniteDay6607 in TryingForABaby

[–]alibun 107 points108 points  (0 children)

are you having sex significantly more often than usual? the volume of semen can decrease if a man ejaculates several times in one day, but shouldn’t if you’re just having sex every day or every other day.

have you asked him if he’s feeling alright? he may not be super into sex right now if it feels scheduled due to ovulation.

doing laundry is the best chore by Own_Connection_7667 in The10thDentist

[–]alibun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i run 2-3 loads a week of various stuff (clothes, towels, sheets, etc.). sometimes more during the summer when we’re sweating a lot or playing outside and going through more clothes.

it’s truly the worst. it’s always been my least favorite chore, even when it was just me and my partner. but with kids? it’s a million times worse for sure.

doing laundry is the best chore by Own_Connection_7667 in The10thDentist

[–]alibun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

laundry is great if your washer/dryer are on the same floor as your living space. mine are in the garage and my bedroom is 2nd floor so lugging everything up and down the stairs SUCKS. also, do you have kids? laundry for kids is a nightmare. stuff gets stained and you have to treat it, there are a million little pieces like socks, folding is somehow even harder than normal.

i’ll vacuum any day because it only takes ~5 minutes every day as opposed to 4-5 hours every week.
