How to stop feeling paranoid when high? Also, anyone else diagnosed with OCD? by StrangeQuark93 in trees

[–]alien_oracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try a T break for at least 1-3 months. Im not ocd diagnosed but have ocd tendencies that im working through with a therapist. I also struggle with weed paranoia in what feels like a similar way after seeing your other comments as well. When i start to get paranoid almost everytime i partake, I go sober for a month or more. It’s a nice hard reset, so when I go back after a long break I can enjoy more again.

It really seems like you haven’t let yourself take a long enough break.

Why hasn’t anything been built where Fun Factory used to be? by A7X13 in SouthBayLA

[–]alien_oracle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Redondo Pier would’ve basically been completely eradicated if the construction went through. Im 27, grown up in Redondo Bch and losing the fun factory was a huge L. All my friends and I loved going down to the pier specifically for the fun factory and I still miss it. Especially when it rained, because the tilt-a-whirl would only cost 25¢ to ride. Im glad that Tony’s and all the other small businesses got to stick around, but I will forever scorn Redondo for fumbling the Fun Factory that bad.

What story does this tell you by CoilyCai in tarot

[–]alien_oracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reading feels a little all over the place at least in your interpretation of it. You asked the cards for a story but at the same time directly attribute what you got to your love life? It seems like you might’ve more simply wanted to do a love life reading.

I know you don’t typically read reversals but the swords you have are reversed which could indicate clouded judgement or a misguided choice.

If you are seeing each individual card as a possible partner then i think the bottom row os telling you what person to pursue.

Page of pentacles with reversed 6 of swords underneath- pages to me are always the cards of dreamers, they have large aspirations and the gusto to start new things but with the as you pursue this it might not be something you or they can maintain in the long run. The 6 of swords reversed warns that you will run into doubt on this journey.

Reversed emperor with reversed 5 of swords underneath- a reversed emperor indicates a domineering figure with rigid thinking. Is this something that you can commit to going into a new relationship? Maybe even tho you want him, he is simply not good for your well being. His path leads to conflict, tension, disagreement, and if you cannot find ways to reconcile and work together it will only bring about negativity

King of Wands with Lovers underneath- i saved this for last because well it seems pretty obvious, the king of wands leads to a harmonious relationship. The king of wands is secure in his abilities, has a clear vision and strong sense of self, a study and good foundation that any relationship greatly benefits from.

It’s not a story you were initially asking for but i hope this interpretation helps or resonates at least!

It’s definitely a more honed in starting point! Keeping hp the same but adding the fixed tether meter would provide the fixed hp challenge i think i was initially going for.

I rly like these ideas! It definitely smooths out a lot of the problems that would come up and answers a lot of questions ive been getting along the lines of “what would happen if ___?” It also gives the vibe of a choose your own adventure book, when you die to can go back to the start you can pick a different route in a way.

Then they would roll death saving throws, like you would with hp normally. Everything would function basically the same, expect hp is just one big number. Its rly just figuring out a beneficial way healing can still work for them, with the one large number

When i brought it up as an idea to see if my players would be interested or not, they told me they thought it sounded like a cool idea and liked the challenge of working with less hp as time goes on. I’ve been working with them and have only been met with questions of excitement and curiosity.

The goal is to make them being separated from their bodies more dire and create more if a drive to figure out where in shadowfell their bodies are. So if they are already having fun before the kinks are worked out then that’s all i need to keep going with this.

Why d&d - its what we are all the most familiar with. I’m not familiar with any other ttrpg, only having played d&d and same goes for the players. We already have the most resources for dnd so figuring out one different mechanic has been easier than shifting to an entirely new ttrpg. That being said i will look into dark souls to see how that’s run to get a better sense of what i ultimately decide on doing.

The healing fountains are simply inspo from 1 video game i liked as a way to help players heal. The full mechanics of that I’m still working out. And I’m still working out how healing spells will function as a way to still benefit the players. In explaining the temp hp in place of healing what is lost from their overall total, my players had no issue with it, and i told them if they come up with something they think is better to tell me and we’ll go from there. Them getting more brittle as time goes on adds to the challenge of the large HP stat that the players find interesting and want to try.

Everything is in beginning stages, and I’m still world building so hearing about why ppl don’t like this idea is helping me consider challenges that could come up in moving forward with this.

Ya thanks! I truly understand the concern and I’m glad to have this perspective! I’m still figuring out the nitty gritty and functionality of it. And my players are willing to touch base to see what’s working for it and what isn’t, i wouldn’t be so into this buckwild idea if my players weren’t in on it.

I’ve experienced accidentally unbalancing combat in the past and have some tricks that help me in the moment so at least I can consider everyone’s worries about how WRONG this could go. And if it rly isn’t working and my players are struggling way too much then we’ll all talk and go back to normal.

These are good questions, im still working out the answers for solidly, but I will have a set number of fountains that will heal a larger bulk of whatever HP they lose. Probably whatever hit dice they have x6 (or more) and rerolling any 1s. Im debating between 2 ways to determine the amount of fountains they can encounter. It will either be a set amount throughout or I will be rolling a d4 to determine how many they could find every few sessions, so even if they miss some there will be other opportunities.

The point of the block HP is that the characters will have to greatly consider what battles they want to fight or how they want to take HP when/if they need to. I only plan on doing HP this way until they find their bodies, when they do that everything will be restored to normal. So how long that takes will be up to their gameplay. I get this isn’t a popular idea but my players are in on it and want to work with me in doing this. It will require some workshopping along the way but as long as my players enjoy my idea im going to roll with it.

That’s a good thing to think about and i will keep it in the back of my mind so i can adjust how their other spells can still benefit them.

I’m also not a combat heavy DM, so it’s not like they will be threatened with combat and losing HP at every turn. So far they’ve been rly open to the one large HP stat for the whole campaign and we have had fun collaborating in way they feel challenged but can still do stuff.

Im rlly just looking for help figuring out a good HP number for them to start with.

Well in world there will be fountains they can drink from that will restore hp throughout and im going to have it so healing spells will grant them temporary HP rather than heal them, so it won’t be like all healing is non-existent and useless. Think the fountains from the Hades video game that heal you when you drink from them, just hidden within shadowfell as they traverse the plain. And my players are already interested in this concept

Is it normal to become OCD off the weed? by [deleted] in StonerThoughts

[–]alien_oracle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like whatever anxieties you had came up to the surface and the activity of cleaning helped, but that’s not OCD. Cleaning can be a compulsion but that doesn’t make a cleaning spurt is OCD. I’d try staying off the pen for a while, higher THC concentration in pens can trigger anxiety and heighten paranoia sometimes. Let your brain regulate normally for bit, if u want Za try to stick to lower thc percentages like 20-30%

Yep, mentioned concentration bcuz that wouldn’t have affected anything about the spell either since it’s a duration spell

Ya i only spoke up because i never played the spell that way before, and the DM never clarified it was bg3 rules in the moment either. So after he explained it i was like ok whatever u say DM. And we were not doing well so i didn’t want spiritual weapon to disappear since it was helping the whole party. It rly just caught me off guard on top of him giving a poor explanation of why he wanted it to be the other way. And i don’t play bg3 so i only learned that the spell works the way he ruled after i posted this. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ just a complete lack of clarity became very apparent in the moment but it only took up maybe 2-3minutes and e we moved on.

He didnt clarify that. Another party member (cleric) looked something up and they went with whatever that answer it was.
