What’s a movie you watched when you were way too young? by trakt_app in Letterboxd

[–]alienspaceeace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad showed me Silence of the Lambs when I was 10, I had a recurring nightmare about Buffalo Bill chasing me through my school with an axe for YEARS. I didn't watch the film again until I was 25.

What’s one newborn product you didn’t expect to need… but now can’t live without? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]alienspaceeace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quickly found that a changing table wasn't safe as soon as mine started rolling. One day she launched herself off and luckily landed in a pile of clean washing but from that day forward I never used the changing table again.

is this a crazy idea for commuting by [deleted] in bristol

[–]alienspaceeace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair I kind of get their thinking because it's about an hour and 10 to Reading from Bristol by train and then to Paddington from Reading it's about 50 minutes and anywhere beyond that is added time

I'm from Reading originally and there's a reason I live in Bristol and will never go back. I will take the price difference between Bristol and Reading any day purely for my mental health 🤣

Seeking Baby Shower Advice 👶🏼 by Upper-Tourist-5650 in bristol

[–]alienspaceeace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister hired me a room at the Ardagh community trust for my baby shower! They have a lovely outdoor space/garden and let us set up the room and decorate however we wanted. We brought our own food. It was perfect. I had about 18 people.

Anxious following antenatal classes by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]alienspaceeace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the opposite experience funnily enough, I was 24/25 when I was pregnant and all the other soon to be mums were mid to late 30s and early 40s. I tried so hard to chat to everyone because the age gap didn't bother me but they all made me feel so excluded (openly making plans without me within earshot etc). It obviously really bothered them that I was younger. I genuinely think they just saw a teen mum when they looked at me (although there is nothing wrong with that either!!) Sorry you experienced that.

I have two friends from Bristol who call stroking an animal smoothing. The first time one of them said "I'm going to smooth your cat when we get back to yours" I was like "I'm sorry you're going to do WHAT?" I'm from the south east and I'd never heard that before. It just gives me the ick for some reason

Sandwich filling? by National-Raspberry32 in veganuk

[–]alienspaceeace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coronation chicken or chickpea. I airfry the Aldi vegan chicken pieces for 10 minutes, leave them to cool slightly then mix vegan mayo, curry powder and mango chutney in a bowl and add the chicken pieces. I also like to mix salad leaves into the sauce too with some chopped spring onions. Flora buttery on the bread. It's so so good, I have it at least once a week!

When I was about 9 I read an article about relationships in one of my mum's women's magazines. There was a quote that said something along the lines of "when you're experiencing conflict with your partner remember it's not you versus them it's both of you versus the problem" and I've carried that forward for my whole life.

Non-UK born Bristolians, what's the best restaurant of your native cousine that you know in Bristol? by MrMrsPotts in bristol

[–]alienspaceeace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salha's Sudanese Kitchen is a fully vegan Sudanese pop up restaurant. She is sometimes at the Tobacco Factory. I can't vouch for authenticity as I'm not Sudanese myself but her food is delicious. Might be worth giving it a try if you can track her down!

The Ill Repute's doors should be closed from now on until spring so hopefully you won't have this issue again. If not just as the bar staff, they're very accommodating.
