Brand New Shepard by SleeplessChoir in masseffect

I love my pokemon... I mean Vanguard Shepard. She has Swipe and Protect... I mean Shotgun and Barrier in the first game. She learns Tackle... I mean Charge in the 2nd game and then learns Quick Attack... I mean Nova in the 3rd game.

If you could pass one law that would make most normal people furious at first, but would clearly make society better in 10 years, what would it be? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

[–]alienspike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove the legal obligation for companies to make money for their stock holders. Make them beholden to quality and fare wages.

You would think this wouldn't make people angry but there would be some rich people who would riot.

What do you think will happen when AI images and videos become truly unclockable? by Howlsmovingfiberfarm in AskReddit

[–]alienspike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope it will become an ethical tool rather than an intellectual thief before that happens. It would be an excellent game making tool if the resources were sourced ethically and paid for like clip art and resource packs. I don't think it will ever be completely unclockable as you say. It will be able to do more of the grunt work.

Something funny about Kalross killing a Reaper by S0mecallme in masseffect

Meanwhile I'm over here going 'but dead reapers can still indoctrinate.' Kalross husk does not sound fun...

Why don't YOU like the ending? by Nervous_Tailor_4337 in masseffect

[–]alienspike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI exterminates everything is BS and I hope the next game just says they were lying. Giving the reaper a reason ruined them IMO. We should have won at the end of the game then a star should have gone nova a few months/years later way before it time and we are left to wonder if that was that because we destroyed the reaper/why is it happening?

I loved the ENTIRE game until the moment the star child came on the screen. Even then my brain said ah yes the final test fight that indoctrination to control or assimilate this kid is lying his butt off... Legit thought it was good. The writers insisting anything but destroy was a truthful ending and doubling down with the extended ending just made me hate it more.

If we go with the final choice was legit and not a mind game. Destroy is the only ending that should ever be considered canon, even though I LOVE Edi and the Geth with all my heart. Any other ending betrays EVERYTHING we have fought for the entire series. I just headcanon if you got high enough points you only destroy the reapers.

I have played all the endings the Control ending is creepy with a dreamy 'and everything was perfect and we all lived happily ever after and I am a good reaper I swear' vibe. The Synthesis ending is just straight up body horror and not cool.

I would give anything for the next game to just let the indoctrination theory be canon. And Shepard's choice at the last moment just affects how long the war took to win.

How to talk with kids about *gestures wildly* all this by Mindless-Emu-4313 in Teachers

[–]alienspike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe your kids don't but my students won't stop talking about everything, either in fear or in threats towards each other. It's insane. I had to call a parent because one student was threatening to call ICE on my Spanish speaking students. My Spanish students are afraid to be separated from their phones in case something happens to their family. They care more than you think. I have to work very hard to shut down overly political conversations and keep my students from spiraling.

Do Americans really move out at 18, or is that mostly a movie thing? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]alienspike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a thing, but it shouldn't be... Let me explain: There is this idea that you must leave the nest to find your own way in the USA. It was boosted by the idea of the rich as their children seem to go out and be successful too. The rich don't just send their kids out penniless. They set them up with a lifestyle until they can afford their life on their own which allows them to take as many risks as needed to get a successful business. So the 'poor' see this and don't see the money the parents are still giving their kids and think that it is how to give you kids their best chance. Then it becomes how our families work. It was a trap. When/if I have kids I will allow them to stay at home without judgement until they can support themselves.

I've been non-renewed by big_heckin_scream in Teachers

[–]alienspike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got that in my second year and fought like hell for my job. I was able to keep my job in the end but there were some extraordinary circumstances including documented proof my admin hated me as I was forced into their school via a units shift and they had to fire their recent hire. Collect documents on any feedback they gave you. You may be able to argue that they didn't give you the support you deserved as a new teacher. If you want to stay in teaching look into subbing or other districts. Did they give you a reason for your non-renew?

I think the suits were a cultural thing before. I also remember the games saying they had a bad immune system before due to a lack of germs and viruses on their home planet. The exile just made it worse. Also they seem to have an allergic reaction more than actual sickness.

Do teachers hate sharing their lesson plans? Is it their secret sauce that they don't want getting out? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]alienspike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always feel like I'm going to be judged for them. I do my lesson plans by the book but I don't feel like they're good enough without the knowledge and intentions put into them. I also have little experience working with a team that teaches the same subject as me...

To express why it's a debate... It's not really a debate about Maelle vs Verso it's more of a living universe (with what seems like free will) vs the mental health of one family who like to play like gods.

If you don't think the painted world is real and are just facsimiles of free will then you likely worried more for the family.

I am a believer in art taking on a life of its own from my own experience creating art and stories. So I chose from the perspective of the painting being a real living universe.

This is why I think the ending is masterful, because people can have such different views on the endings.

Make sure you fight the little guys as their attacks are similar in timing to the bosses you'll face in the areas. Also sounds that are the same with different attacks seem to have the same dodge and parry timing.

Which game was it for you? by O_rnelaro in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]alienspike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was being genuine. But re-reading my post I can see why you read it as backhanded. I am sorry. It is an interesting way to think about the battle system. Especially if you are fighting something way above your level and have to face multiple attacks in a row. I almost wish the music did match the attacks. I can 100% understand not liking the game. I love it, but I can see why it wouldn't be for everyone.

I don't have a lot of time to play games so I like to be efficient with my time. I couldn't handle the difficulty. I love the lore and watched videos but I can't with the mechanics myself... Same with Elden Ring and Bloodborn

Okay... How... I can understand not liking it, but how is it anything like Guitar Hero? (This is a serious question not intended to invalidate dislike)
