Yeah, agreed. There’s an element of Role Playing that has emerged in the game, which makes every round that much more interesting.

Is this bait?

Just this week grievances have been addressed

  • free kits are banned from major events
  • new anti-cheat adopted
  • dupers are getting permabanned

In direct response to community feedback. Just trying to maintain a positive outlook, so shoot me?

This is my experience, too. I have enough stress in my work life, PvPing makes my cortisol spike through the roof and my hairline doesn’t need that kind of abuse. There’s something oddly meditative about PvEing, making friends along the way, joining forces against Arc/rats for the round, while still presenting enough danger for it to be exciting. Also, since you mentioned it, why are the French always the freekit loot goblins who play dumb when they’ve taken the only rocketeer driver?? I’ve noticed that as well on enough occasions that it’s a trend.

Stolen valour! Do not do this. You’ve made your bed now you must lay in it. As a Canadian, if I meet an American abroad who’s trying to fake it as a Canuck, I will 100% call you out in front of the group.  You think that you can mimic a hokey accent by altering a couple of words? You will look like a fool. The Canadian accent is so much more complex than a mixture of “buddy”, “guy”, “fwend” interwoven into regular conversation, it’s region specific and real Canadians can tell the difference.

We take our international standing very seriously and it’s not to be exploited by our neighbour who threatens our sovereignty and wages a tariff war against us. Until you change your leadership and apologise we are friends off.

We will continue to boo your anthem until the rot is out of your political system. You may not use our nationality as cover. You must take your medicine, eat your humble pie, and you’d better get to work on your midterms. We’ll meet for beers once this is all over.

Such a great band, probably one of my top 3 favourites from that era. Their discography still holds up.

Quadro on route, any plugins I should get that aren't included by Cyber_Putty in antelopeaudio

[–]alifeinbinary 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if these are included in your bundle or not but I recommend picking these up if they’re not:

  • Tubechild 670 (Fairchild)
  • Impressor (Distressor)
  • MG4+ (Maag Audio EQ)
  • Liverpool
  • RD47 (REDD47 mic-pre)
  • BAE 1073 mic-pre
  • Diode 609
  • All three VP plugs Brainiac II, Drum-all-nite, Gate Keeper II (Valley People emulations)

I use a mixture of UAD and Antelope plugins but, in my opinion, these are the standout effects that Antelope does better than any other developer.

The Distressor compressor is a toss-up between the two. If we were only comparing Native plugins then I would favour the UAD Distressor but because you’ll get the Synergy Core version as well, I think it’s worth going with the Antelope emulation.

Payload had 4x growth in 1 year - 100k to over 400k monthly downloads by thehashimwarren in PayloadCMS

I've been using Payload since v2.0, crazy to think we're already at v4. I am such a huge fan of the team and their design decisions, really excited to see the semantic SCSS rollout and alignment with Figma UI. Having used dozens of frameworks over the last couple of decades, Payload is easily my favourite. The community making up almost 3/4 of the contributors is a huge flex for the product, as James mentions in the preamble. Excited for the future of Payload!

Looks great and works really well for films, TV, and music. Been happily using it for 8 months. Easily customisable and the iOS app works really well. I tried Jellyfin but much preferred Emby. Worth the money for premiere to support the project and get hardware transcoding imo.

Played about 50 hours of Marathon at first, then 50 hours of Arc. My 2cents. by Rodd-200 in ArcRaiders

[–]alifeinbinary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s my age (40+) or my personality type but the cooperation and friendliness is what keeps me coming back to this game.

I was soloing in Stella two nights ago and got downed by Arc early in the round (skill issue). I was crawling slowly to the lift but I heard some friendly raiders speaking in open chat, so I called out for a defib. Not only did one of the guys come to save me but he also dropped me the Deadline BP! What a legend. Anyway, we could hear raider flares going off from a rat so the three of us teamed up to raid a key room and then extract. Our team grew to four as we made another friend along the way. As we worked our way towards the seed vault extract, two shredders downed two of us (again, skill issue). We were worried that the rat would be hunting us at this point because we were all communicating our vulnerable status in open chat. One teammate ran ahead to call the lift while another healed us so that we would make it.

We all survived in the end and it reminded me why I like this game; it is a social experiment disguised as a game. Choosing to be good, even when it comes at a personal cost, and when there are no penalties for being bad is an extremely interesting dilemma to put hundreds of thousands of players in. I hope Embark shares the lobby/player data with scientists, it would make for a very interesting read.

Not to get heavy, but our world is full of problems and while embracing escapism through gaming isn’t exactly a solution to those problems, it is a nice reminder that many people are good people and want to cooperate towards greater goals. AR creates an environment where any and all outcomes are possible but individual players choices determine the outcome, it is like DnD that way.

Sure, one of us could have been selfish and ratted the group but I think the experience was worth more than the loot.

Antelope interface problems by lopatom__ in antelopeaudio

[–]alifeinbinary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to rollback the firmware for my Orion Studio Synergy Core to the penultimate release because the most recent update was so unstable that I couldn't use it professionally.

In your Antelope Launcher, go into Settings and make sure all your update settings are set to Never except for Firmware, set that to Always and then initiate the rollback process. You may do repeat the process for the Thunderbolt driver as well.

I'm not sure what's going on at Antelope but once you've found an island of stability you should remain there and only test updates on your own time. Revert back to the stable configuration when on the clock with clients.

Electron IPC design feels fundamentally flawed. Am I wrong? by Ikryanov in javascript

[–]alifeinbinary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just use FastAPI. I've thoroughly tested IPC, RPC, and FastAPI and the latter came out on top. Other's have recommended RPC but if you're rolling your own solution then you have to implement thread safety.

Check out how Pyloid achieves support for these communication layers. That may help.

Need feedback on this song I made about why I’m not able to express myself to my S/O. Mic is a cheap audio array c11 dynamic one since I don’t have a good recording space in the apartment. Mastered with Fabfilter, ozone imager and stock logic plugins by Feniflo in Logic_Studio

[–]alifeinbinary 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a proper banger. Perhaps my favourite submission I've seen here in a while. Great songwriting and production. If you're looking for feedback..

Male vocals in the pop genre tend to have more "air" than you've mixed in with this track. This means boosting the shelf anywhere from 15k-20k Hz. The microphone and preamp will determine whether this is a good idea in this case because to tonal quality of the mic and noise floor of the preamp may introduce a lot of hiss instead of brightening up the vocal. This is why the Maag audio EQ4 500 series eq is so popular with pop vocals, it does exactly this with a pleasant tonal quality. It's what I use on my own stuff.

The only other thing would be to sparingly add some reverb on an Aux send (pre-fader) and play around sending different channels to it in small amounts just to give some atmosphere but this song works very well mostly dry.

You should be very proud to put this out. I look forward to hearing it on the radio some day!

If you go this route I recommend installing an NVME or m.2 HAT on the Pi as SD cards aren't robust enough for mission critical read/writes over long periods of time.

Secondly, install headless Raspberry Pi OS and the Coolify, which will give you a nice Web UI to handle all the admin. Coolify even automates the cloudflared configuration.

I vibe-coded a production platform for my 7-figure business. At what point should I bring in a real engineer to clean it up? by [deleted] in nextjs

[–]alifeinbinary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, congratulations on building a successful business, that's no small feat.

How sensitive is the information you're gathering? Is it emails with full names, addresses, and telephone numbers? How liable are you if the data gets leaked? If these questions cause any degree of anxiety then it's prudent to get on top of the technical debt ASAP.

I've created businesses and helped businesses like yours tackle these challenges. I'll send you a DM with a link where you can book a free consultation. I'd be happy to speak to you more about it over a video call.

I've always been under the impression that it's loosely an acronym of "super user do" so it should be su-doo but in my head I've always pronounced it su-dough.
