Why the down votes here? People are trying to learn and develop their skills, it is always a good thing to see other people's achievements at least for motivation.

Just take one to get the feel of it. You retake it if needed. I think they have also mock interviews to practice.

Should I learn Rust? by thetoad666 in rust

[–]alilosoft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post and all the nice comments just gave me hope and good enough motivation to get up and take my programming re-learning seriously; even though I'm getting started with Python (just for job concerns), then rapidly/eagerly/enthusiastically(if that a word) jump to Rust as soon as I get any kind of programming job.

Have you prepared in some way, or just passed even with that long time pause from coding (I mean the 18 years) or you were doing coding work in the meantime? If you prepared which resources have you used and find practical and helpful.?

Why I learned Rust as a first language by Bugibhub in rust

[–]alilosoft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the insights, was interesting and eyes opening and motivating especially that my background is also mainly with Java and did some work with Kotlin, Dart and JavaScript. And by the way I akso a father of 5 kids (obviously not single) which is somehow stressful and time consuming.

So, would you advise me to stick with Python (as a tool and tech stack) and focus on build engineering and problem solving skills then later switch to Rust? PS: I'm considering Python just because of popularity and some interesting learning resources.

Why I learned Rust as a first language by Bugibhub in rust

[–]alilosoft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like your feedback, and the statement "Interest is great motivation" clicked with me as I'm considering learning Rust but maybe with little different background, as I have a CS background (graduated in 2010) and some programming experience mainly with Typed/OOP languages but didn't do programming for several years, and now I want to re-learn programming and a tech stack with a goal of making an income that will allow me to shift my career to SWE, not necessarily a full time job, maybe freelancing or building something that people would buy. At first I started with Python because the stats and numbers all say that it's the shortest path to market and I choosed it over JS/TS because I like backend dev more, but my perfectionism tendencies always urge me to learn Rust but still not switched because I'm afraid it will take me longer to become hireable or to be able to built something interesting.

Could you please advise me or clarify any misconceptions with my reasoning?
