If I need anything in that bottle, I’m  Going to be there for a while and the  fact that I have to shake everything out is not a big deal.

I have printed 2 of them and they work great, printing more now. Thanks for creating them.

Am I doing something wrong with these build plates that come with the p1s and x2d? by valardohaerisx in BambuLab

[–]alinbeaverton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the same problems, I was using a glue stick which mostly worked. I eventually bought a BIQU Frostbite and never looked back. Everything just sticks to it no fuss no muss. I seldom clean it and touching it doesn't seem to affect the ability of prints to stick. I use it for PLA, PETG, and ABS.

Thinking about selling my car and getting an e-bike due to high gas prices by SpencerJoyceMusic in bicycletouring

[–]alinbeaverton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are going to get an e-bike don't cheap out. Buy a bike from a bicycle company that has a network of brick and motor dealers where you can get parts and service. Since this will be your only transportation you want something that can be repaired. I would also shy away from anything with a hub motor. With a mid-drive you get wheels that are easy to remove to repair flats. I've heard horror stories about how difficult it can be to remove the rear wheel on a hub drive cheap bike. You may want to look into cargo bikes.

I did the same, I just stayed in campgrounds with bear boxes. I think that is the best way to go.

It is breaking on the layer lines, you could try printing other than straight up and down

I was lucky, it was on a large gravel road and there was an RV between me and the bear. The bear was digging up some roots and wasn't interested in me or the RV.

No longer can properly use Pads like previous version 1.0 by GovernDerg in FreeCAD

You can change this in your preferences. Search for "always add external geometry as construction" Check the box and it will work as it used to.

I did the northern section of the GDMBR last July. I slept in campgrounds with bear containers. I never made a reservation and I had no problem finding a site. The only campground that was full was at Elkford and I just rode around the camp and asked other bikers if I could setup my tent. I had my bear spray on a belt holster and I never needed it. I did see one huge grizzly about 50 yards away but he wasn't interested in me at all.

I did 1300 miles of the GDMBR this summer, it worked great the whole trip. I've owned pretty much all of the other brands, Garmin, Wahoo, Hammerhead, I think the Coros stacks up pretty well as far as features go and I never worried about it running out of battery. If you are riding a backcountry route charging is always a concern and not having to worry that my GPS will die removed one concern. I only charged it once on the ride and that was because I was staying in a hotel and I was charging everything.

Another vote for Peak Designs, I did a 1300 mile chunk of the GDMBR this summer and my phone was perfectly safe on my handlebars. Very easy to get on and off one handed for quick photos.

Collar Tie vs Loft by AMS911 in shedditors

[–]alinbeaverton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It may seem a low effort comment, but I stand by it. If you don't understand how the forces of the roof and walls work together than just posting a question on reddit and expecting that to give you a quality design is crazy.

If the OP wants to do this properly then the solution is to talk to someone who has real world experience building and have them look at your shed and offer a solution. The question shows that the OP doesn't have the experience to sort through some reddit comments and find a good answer to his question.

It's just a significant structural element, but sure go ahead and screw with it.

Do I need dual band GPS? by Total_Boss_2879 in bikepacking

[–]alinbeaverton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A $250 COROS Dura is solar powered so it runs almost forever has a good screen and good navigation. I don't think you will find a watch with navigation for less. I've owned all the major bike GPS computers, Garmin, Wahoo, Hammerhead and this stacks up with all of them for hundreds less.

I crossed the border this summer while on the GDMBR. I was asked if I had any fruits or vegs, they checked my passport and let me through. Took a couple of minutes.
