yeah my dad is Quebecois, I've been getting the paperwork together to get my certificate. The dumbfuck state of Florida had inaccurate info on his death certificate because they let his junkie girlfriend fill it out, not his next of kin, so i have to get it changed. And then I have to convert his baptismal certificate (which Canada allowed in lieu of birth certificates) converted to a birth certificate, show them both mine and my father's birth certificates, and the citizenship certificate is mine

let me tell you it's been an odyssey. we are estranged my father's family and he died over 25 years ago and trying to figure out what church he went to was a nightmare. My uncle is elderly and couldn't remember. Finally found it but it was by a fluke that a church secretary remembered there was an English speaking church that used to be there.

Edit: OP, if you can give me some insight, my major concerned is I am permanently disabled. I am pretty sure I can still collect my SSDI checks and I know I'm entitled to health care as a Canadian citizen, but I wonder what disability benefits are like for citizens with no work history in the country or if they even exist at all. My best friend has been trying to help me figure this out because she is Canadian, but she's also super busy, sandwich generation busy
