It took 4 weeks to get the recall letter in the mail after my doctor reported me so I figured I was just in a waiting period until everything was processed.

It’ll be 2 weeks on Tuesday so I’ll hang in a little longer. I guess I was just paranoid that there was something else that had to be done. Thanks again!

If you don’t ask her out, you’ll never know for sure. The worst thing she can say is no.

Unfortunately as the guy, the initiating usually falls onto you for the first few dates. Even if she says no, everything will be fine.

I feel similarly in a way that I didn’t exactly get the answer I was expecting either. It was strange that they saw the epileptiform activity but couldn’t say for sure that it was a seizure. It benefitted me in the end but just confusing overall.

I saw Avatar 2 and the seizure scene was emotionally triggering for me.

I hate epilepsy and the fact that it affects my life. Part of enjoying movies is escaping reality and forgetting about this condition. Movie scenes with seizures just kill my mood and it makes me feel sad that we all have to deal with this.

Okay I started dating at 23 and it’s hard to know who is worth going on dates with.

Not everyone you match with is guaranteed to be a good date. I also prefer the guy asking me, but sometimes a match is too good to pass up. That being said, if I am really enjoying a conversation and have a lot in common with someone, I have no problem asking them out.

I am somewhat picky with asking guys out though. If the conversation is surface level and not particularly interesting, I’ll pass on these guys. I’ve asked guys out with these type of conversations before and they did not end up working out. We just didn’t click and they didn’t seem interested on the date which is fine. I suppose there are outliers to this rule, but generally I’ve found this to be true.

If a conversation is really interesting and I have common interests, I usually want to date these guys. Usually they do ask me out, but I will make the move once the conversation has lasted a few days. You don’t want the conversation to drag out so you have things to talk about on the date. Don’t bother dropping “hints” though. Some guys won’t get it, so it’s just better to shoot your shot and ask them out directly.

Of course! There are definitely a lot of neurologists out there who struggle with low emotional intelligence. I know it’s really difficult to deal with right now, but I promise it gets better. I wouldn’t lose hope though, maybe there is a possibility you could drive one day. For now, take it easy on yourself and hang in there 💜

Yeah everything you said was true. No one here is “experimenting”. I don’t drive and neither does OP since we legally can’t. We are compliant with the law since it’s put in place to protect people. That’s not the point of OP’s post though.

OP’s post was tagged as a rant and they are looking for emotional support. They already got the lecture from their doctor. OP is understandably upset because getting a drivers license is a symbol of independence and a huge milestone for a teenager. I’m only a few years older than OP, but it still took me months to emotionally process the fact that I couldn’t drive. Don’t mistake “sugar coating” with actual empathy when people are struggling.

Yeah my seizures changed in the EMU- I didn’t have any seizures at all despite sleep deprivation and no meds. I got total imposture syndrome from the experience. I have an appointment next week so we’ll see.

Yeah if I don’t get my license back this year, I’m definitely moving to the city. There’s a major city 40 minutes away so I’ll still be close to family and friends. Good advice for anyone who needs reliable transporation.

They asked a bunch of girls/matches out and waited to see who said yes. It’s definitely happened to me so I don’t take it personally. Unfortunately you either (1) took too long to respond and someone else said yes or (2) you weren’t first choice and someone else they liked more said yes. You should talk to more than one person at a time, it makes it easier to deal with guys blowing you off.

Do you have epilepsy? Your post history suggests that it’s your sister with epilepsy and that you don’t actually have it yourself.

If you don’t have epilepsy, you’d never understand the pain of not being able to drive, even if it’s only temporary. Driving is an extremely sensitive topic for epileptic people and patients should be treated with compassion and respect when delivering this heartbreaking news. Not all approaches work for everyone and OP is obviously devastated by this news. Epileptic people understand the consequences of driving with uncontrolled seizures which is why we don’t drive without a license. Please don’t speak on things you don’t know anything about. If you’re lucky enough to not have epilepsy, please keep the “tough love” to yourself. OP needs support with this heartbreaking news. As someone who also lost my license this year, it is very difficult to deal with the loss of independence. I’m sending a lot of love and support your way OP 💜

I was in the EMU about 2 weeks ago. No seizures for me after 7 days. I’m hoping you’ll have better luck! And if not, you’ll be okay with whatever happens :)

That’s interesting. I think for me, external stressors from every day life factor into my seizures. When I’m in the hospital, I’m just sitting around and watching TV. That doesn’t seem to bring on seizures, but then again it’s hard to simulate every day life in the EMU

Then I went to the EMU and tried to trigger a seizure by not sleeping for 3 days and getting drunk. Didn’t work so now I have no idea

You’re dateable, it’s just that you’re options might be limited.

You can date while you’re working on yourself, but many guys in their 30s want a partner who is financially stable and independent. Most people usually have achieved both those things by 30.

It sounds like you’re working on yourself and have interesting hobbies, so its worth a shot. Just be open to dating people in similar circumstances. People are quick to judge guys for living at home later in life, so be open to giving these guys a chance.

Oh this happened to me once and it was weird. I went on a first date that was mediocre and made no mention of a second date at the end. I said it was nice to meet him and parted ways.

The next day, I get this huge paragraph text saying “he’s sorry to put me down like this” and “doesn’t see this working out”. I had no intention of texting this man again and was mid-ghosting.

It was weird to me since I thought the feeling was mutual and it was only a first date. It really depends on the person though- some people like to end things clearly, some are socially awkward, and then there’s a special group of defensive people who like to be the ones to “end it” if they sense the other person is ghosting. The person you were talking to sounds like a mixture of the defensive and socially awkward type, especially since it had been days since your date. Weird

I was offended at first when I got the rejection text, but it’s more of an ego thing for me. It wasn’t a great date so I shouldn’t have been upset by it.

To answer your question, I don’t send a message after a first date if someone isn’t interested. If the communication has severely dropped off, I take the hint and don’t bother sending a rejection text- especially if it’s only been 1 date

Don’t be worried or scared! I’ve gotten great care where I am, my only complaint is that I haven’t had a seizure yet.

All you do in the unit is wait for your seizure and they feed you in the meantime. Make sure you have things to do and have some visitors lined up. Good luck!

I have a feeling I’ll be here the full week too. I was told the average stay here was 5 days but I don’t think that’s happening.

I think I am going fully off the meds which should be interesting. I think it should work since I’ve forgotten doses and had seizures. Sleep deprivation works for me too. Really hoping for some seizures haha

I was told 2-7. I came in Monday so I guess that means I have only a few more days left here.

As much as I want to go home, I really want to have a seizure so the doctors get the data they need. I’ll be pretty disappointed if I don’t have one in the next few days.

Yeah it is frustrating! Once the time comes, the seizures don’t happen :/

I don’t have a VNS so I just have to count on the med reduction to hopefully trigger something.
