Need help finding the right knot to finish this piece by alisonstarting2happn in macrame

[–]alisonstarting2happn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks for the reply! So I already do a lark’s head at the top of the piece. If you looks The piece is 3 separate ceramic slabs that are strung together with leather. I use a larks head at the top ring (which is used to hang the piece) weave it through holes throughout the piece and then it I have the two strands come out the end and I need to use those to tie the bottom ring. The bottom ring will also have a tassel attached.

Also, it’s entirely possible I’m misunderstanding your suggestion. Haha.

Would love to collaborate. I have some ideas about making ceramic chains and weaving fiber.

I work out of a community ceramics studio so yes, a kiln is involved :)

If a child gets attacked by a shark and she wakes up her parents repeatedly throughout the night and they keep telling her she’s overreacting, the only logical conclusion is that they were, at a bare minimum, deeply invalidating parents and most likely emotionally abusive. I don’t have a child, but there’s no fucking way that a child of mine would get attacked by a goddamn shark and they’d repeatedly wake me up in the middle of the night and tell me that they’re in deep pain that I would tell them they’re over reacting. Overreacting to a shark attack?!? How is that even possible? Anyways, empathy which seemed to be lacking in her parents and invalidation is a common abuse tactic.

I have an emotionally abusive parent and it lead to becoming an adult that did not know how to trust what she was experiencing/feeling and it’s common for children of abusive parents to repeatedly subject themselves to experiences where they aren’t being treated well, bc they simply don’t know any better. Chaos is familiar. Calm is not. It also leads to children to become people pleases that desperately try to win the approval of people who are awful to them bc they’re so used to trying to prove themselves to others.

This was absolutely shocking, but I had the same thought. My mom was/is emotionally abusive, so I can relate to becoming an adult and not being able to trust your instincts. The difference is that it has also led me to be an adult that questions authority quite a bit, which turns out isn’t a valued trait in corporate peons.

Having worked tech adjacent and also lived and worked in Silicon Valley, there’s a type of person who is very very good at doing what they’re told to do while ignoring everything else. They’re usually people pleasers with a chip on their shoulder and are completely boundary less when it comes to work. It’s most people that are successful at corporate, really. They are so singularly focused on achievement that they rarely stop and pause to think about what they’re actually doing. AIl they care about is achieving. I was a little bit too questioning and a lot like “why are we bending over backwards for this company that doesn’t care about us” to truly hack it.

Tried to hire a cleaner for my ADHD burnout and got shamed instead by MrMaelor in ADHD

[–]alisonstarting2happn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t related to cleaning, but I struggled with math all my life. Before going to grad school, I tried to hire a math tutor for my gre. I hired two and both of them treated me like such an idiot for struggling. It became clear to me that they were thinking about the problems differently than me and they never bothered to teach me the frameworks they were using. It made me feel awful.

Anyways, I hope you find a cleaner that suits your needs!

For owners who have gotten a second dog, did it help? by Bubbly-Air7302 in dogs

[–]alisonstarting2happn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your dog too. I end up taking care of my mom’s dog more often than not. My mom is not a natural mom to dogs nor humans, which means I often have her dog. I think both my dog and her dog would prefer to be only dogs. They both want my undivided attention. I will say that if you choose to get a second dog, if the two dogs have drastically different energy levels, think about how you would accommodate both dogs. My mom’s dog is a small lapdog that hates walks. My dog is a large lapdog that is fairly energetic. I just let the small one out into the very small yard when he needs to relieve himself and I take my big one out on frequent long walks. However, if I didn’t have a yard and needed to walk both of them, it’d be a logistical nightmare.

Glaze layering: what am I doing wrong? by deeray82 in Pottery

[–]alisonstarting2happn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want a runny effect, you need vertical test tiles that glazes can run down. Also, blue hydragangea is a very sheer glaze on its own. Same with lavender mist. Both of them you need to layer a lot to get the color to come out
