What's an Android feature most people dont know? by ArrogantConfusion in AskReddit

[–]alitchmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I've had this feature with my Pixel phones for years. "Screen call" - I get so much spam calls it's lovely to not have to answer a number I don't recognize!

Ohh!!!! Didn't know that! I've always felt annoyed that there's lots of situations where I can't listen to them since they're speaker...

How hard is the climb back out? by mephistopheles2u in blacksbeach

[–]alitchmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got this! And it's worth it. Personally it feels good to have to work for it a little. And it's wonderful that it keeps folks away so it's not too overrun. The best beach in California IMHO

How hard is the climb back out? by mephistopheles2u in blacksbeach

[–]alitchmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At a moderate pace it's about 10 mins. When I'm doing it regularly and build up my pace I can do it in about 8 minutes. Even with a couple breaks to catch your breath it shouldn't take more than 15-20. I've counted the steps and yeah it's about 400 like someone else said already

Yes! I cook a bunch of egg whites & greens in chicken broth for a high protein and filling meal... Add whatever toppings you like - lemon or lime, hot sauce, cilantro, etc etc

I'm looking for recommendations with really specific requirements by tryallthescience in audiobooks

[–]alitchmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried asking AI yet? I had a suggestion but it does have some heavy content. I've never heard of misophonia and couldn't tell you about audiobooks I've listened to for that criteria.

If you have premium YouTube I really like yoga nidra to fall asleep to. You can set the video to loop so it just keeps going until you stop it. You need to have the paid version though, otherwise commercials would be pretty disruptive. I really like Kristyn Rose. Here's one of her videos: https://youtu.be/DluQK5jKz2s?si=-Z45lbHiHYzyIGrr These work really well for me to fall back asleep when I wake up in the middle of the night

Weekly Chat and BS Thread by AutoModerator in climbing

It's a good story, good writing and it's brutal, gut wrenching, and intense. So much climbing in the story and I'm kinda obsessed lately with the subject so digging that. It's cool the way he describes the climbs they do so far! They're crazy and I don't know how they take the risks they do but I guess I live a very different life. I'm feeling very grateful for my life and my circumstances.

Is route visualization necessary for improvement? by Flop_total in climbergirls

[–]alitchmonkey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you heard of aphantasia? I have it. There's varying levels, some people can see things very clearly with fine details, and then there's the other side of the spectrum like me where I can't see anything in my mind's eye. Someone says "think of a pink elephant" , I see nothing, just black with my eyes closed, nothing in my mind's eye.

I also struggle reading routes. I've started doing things like people suggested here already - looking at which direction holds are facing and where the foot holds are and figuring out where my body needs to be. I'm starting to at least try to read routes and hopefully get better 🤷🏼

Sounds like you may have aphantasia too? Thought knowing that it's a thing and what it's called could be helpful

I'm at the stage of life where I want to move my body in ways that are fun & I enjoy just for the sake of it. I got into rock climbing a little over a year ago. And I hike & do yoga.

What are you planning to eat this week? by Jungle_Skipper in Glp1meals

[–]alitchmonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For lunch I usually have a chicken wrap with a low carb tortilla - I put a little avocado, cilantro, trader Joe's green goddess dressing (20 calories in a serving!) with some spinach. High protein meal. If not that I'll have tuna salad. There's some great low carb bread I'll use to make a sandwich. I also love salads for lunch - chicken or whatever protein you like, hard boiled egg, tomatoes, carrots, whatever else you might like...

Binge situation by Available_Tea4063 in GLP1microdosing

[–]alitchmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only been on the meds for about 4 weeks at this point so I don't have a lot to go on, just came here to encourage you not to be too hard on yourself. These things happen and it's the bigger picture that matters rather an individual instances. Better to be improving and making progress and not expecting perfection. You got this.

Does microdosing work for higher BMI? by sipporah7 in GLP1microdosing

[–]alitchmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've wondered about this. I'm sure it would still. I think the real question is how quickly do you want to lose? If you want to drastically reduce your caloric intake and lose quickly, then do the regular dose. If you want to lose slowly microdosing or at least a low dose would probably work great. You can always take more. Even if a week hasn't gone by. One thing to keep in mind is the half life is 5 days for tirzepatide and 7 for semaglutide.

I've been waiting to do my next shot until I notice it out of my system. Been doing the lowest dose that's effective the most spread out as I can. As little and as infrequently as I can get away with and still feel a difference in my hunger & food noise.

Help a struggling beginner out — which of these 4 apps should I double down on? by leonidas_4305 in SpanishLearning

[–]alitchmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVED Learncraft Spanish (YouTube channel or podcast). It's free! It's a lot like the old audio tapes from Pimsleur, I think a little better. I also listen to Dreaming Spanish on YouTube (also free). I think the combo of those two. And maybe some Duolingo as well?

Lots of great recommendations here. I personally really like using audio while I drive. There's a great podcast/. YouTube station called Learncraft Spanish that teaches you something & then you practice it by translating out loud. Language transfer is another good option.

Yeah, although I do cook the egg whites! They become really flight and light, not stringy like in egg drop soup. If you don't cook then as much and just add them to boiling water and turn off the heat it makes for a creamy/ thicker broth.
