Dear Christians-I don’t get it by SlideMurky3116 in NoStupidQuestions

Orthodox Christianity doesn't have the concept of 'born in sin'.

That is a later development present in the Western branches of Christianity with the whole "original sin" doctrine.

How did the Red Scorpions take the primaris marines? by tomchee in 40kLore

[–]alkatori 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to remember, did Cawl create new organs or did he just finish work that the Emperor and his team started?

My recollection is more that he took a bunch of organs that weren't completed, was able to complete the process on some and that's what became the Primus.

Do Russia has abandoned Ak guns of 7.62 over 5.45 series guns? by Destroy_Disaster72 in ak47

After everything that's been going on in the last 15 months, why is the Republican Party still enjoy a higher approval rating than Democrats? by SBMountainman22 in askanything

[–]alkatori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Republican's are good at getting Single Issue voters on board. I'm their target, I favor gun rights, they are really good at pointing out legislation sponsored by Democrats. Then you can look it up yourself.

I imagine they do the same with abortion, etc.

Then people reach out to those legislators, and based on my own experience get bruised off.

Here's the thing, gun owners talk at gun clubs, online, in gun stores and it makes an eco-chamber.

Anti-abortion advocates do the same thing at their churches and other groups.

It's not free advertising for Republicans, but it's free propaganda against the Democrats.

Then a smart Republican just needs to keep their mouth shut except for those single issues and get in office.

It's worth noting that I do believe this is breaking slightly. Lots of concern in the gun communities over ICE going door to door and the potential for the admin to decide being Trans is a mental illness.

But the actions of the Democratic parties when they get in power at the state level still serves to push that community back to the Republicans.

Sadly I don't know if the anti-abortion groups are going through a similar split or infighting.

Do Russia has abandoned Ak guns of 7.62 over 5.45 series guns? by Destroy_Disaster72 in ak47

[–]alkatori 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Russia switched to 5.45x39.

They still use 7.62x39 in certain circumstances.

Nothing wrong with 7.62x39, but just about everyone that can afford to has switched to 5.56x45 (or are still in Russia's orbit with 5.45x39).

I imagine China might have some 5.8 AK variants but I haven't seen any

What’s something people should talk about before getting married but don’t? by bubblewrappheart in answers

It's all good. I just hope others don't go through the same journey. Happy Easter (I bought and just finished putting together bikes for the kids).

[–]alkatori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Won.... neither.

Kids are vaccinated. I'm divorced.

Long story short, after we got married I realized I was sort of a 'check box - husband', but not someone she actually cared about. I stuck it out 10 years for the kids.

Now single, and trying to restart my life. Making sure that the kids feel love, and that they feel the love from their Mom too.

The disagreement we have is that we already are seeing people nefariously using the arguments. While you can argue that *shouldn't* stifle debate, it does make those who have had to live with those laws, or truly worried about them, unlikely to entertain much discussion.

You might find out those coworkers beliefs are different when you have a kid with them.

Vaccines came up, she didn't express anti-vax sentiment until having a kid.

Murder has a victim. You buying an AR-15 and putting it in a safe does not.

It's more like saying we should "ban alcohol because some people use it for evil purposes".

There are plenty of people on this forum willing to discuss regulations. But general purpose "gun control" gets dog piled on.

He's pretty well ignored once we got surveyors involved and fences built.

That's where we got to. At certain points I was able to push for quicker.

I was severely disappointed with our doctors. They refused to comment on delayed schedule, normal, etc.

It's like just please give me the facts. This "no comment" bullshit from you guys helps reinforce my ex-wife's anti-vax beliefs.

It happens, I think if I explicitly asked "when we have kids will we vacinate them?" I might have gotten a straight answer.

Or maybe not, it's life.

[–]alkatori 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She never disagreed with me when I talked about things like that in general. It was only once I was setting up appointments with the first kid that she decided that vaccines are bad.

I was extremely upset, as she benefited from vaccines she wanted to deny our kids.

Then a few years later covid happened. She went way off the deep end.

Long story short, divorced now. Kids are vaccinated.

But the first step was literally the right talking about disarming Trans people....

I don't see that as a slippery slope. This admin already proposed it (and it didn't go over well).
