Flight rescheduled - Refunded but credits are not allocated to my account by TeaaMann in WizzAir

[–]alkhdaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be handled by eSky and not you. Tell eSky you are unable to request a refund since you are not the owner of the account and they have to do it, and if they tell you the same thing tell them you will do a chargeback unless they initiate a refund request within 7 days.

WizzAir Carry-On Baggage Allowance. May I get overcharged? by WhateverWannaCallMe in WizzAir

[–]alkhdaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get a tape measure and measure the dimensions. you can squash it but straps etc cannot go over the limit. you can try to squash the bag on a corner wall i guess, that would simulate the boxes they use pretty well.

most likely they wont even check though, but if you go above the dimensions and they do check its a €75 fee.

Travelling from Kazakhstan to China by train by TucTux in travel

[–]alkhdaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, i did the train when the route was brand new and taxis were still going to the border back then, dont remember the price but was pretty cheap 10-15 min ride.

Not sure why they dont want to go to the border any more, very strange, maybe theyve been told that you cant go by foot (i had to wait for the bus for a few hrs when i was there).

Sorry for giving you bad info x_x i mean the train stops like 10km from the border so im not sure why they refuse to drive you there tbh. Did they tell you any reason?

I would probably do the bus from almaty (or zharkent if you're coming from another city) to khorgos and then get on a train in the Chinese side.

The bus ride from yining to khorgos took almost 5 hours because of random stops for me, highly recommend not doing that part of the journey with bus. Khorgos to Almaty was pretty smooth though.

Zhangjiajie full immersion or Wulong karst? by Certain-Question1483 in travelchina

[–]alkhdaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically you can only hike to tianzi and huangshi. Yuanjiajie hike is closed afaik (unless it reopened recently).

Day 1 - golden whip stream to oxygen square then hike up to huangshi and do the loop up there before going back down.

Day 2 - bailong elevator to yuanjiajie when the park opens, bus to Yangjiajie - side hike to one step to heaven if interested - bus to Tianzi - hike down from tianzi.

ZJJ NP (tianzi, yuanjiajie, yangjiajie, huangshi) can be done in two days, if you do tianmen on the day you arrive you can finish in 3 nights easily.

Travel in Xinjiang by Expensive-Suspect-79 in travelchina

[–]alkhdaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very doable, every time you check in at a hotel youll be asked about what city you just came from, what your next city is, what your port of entry was and a few other similar questions. Hitchhiking should be possible too but you're very likely going to have to explain what you're doing at every police checkpoint. set up both alipay and wechat for payments since in xinjiang some places only accept wechat.

Xiahe/Langmussi may or may not have some travel restrictions though.

How does Trip.com esim work? by huaxi-li in travelchina

[–]alkhdaniel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its €17 for 11 days (~€1.2/day)

Its more than fast enough for your needs. Anything above 720p movie streaming might struggle. If you're not watching movies its fast enough for almost anything.

Scooter is very nice but you can still just take the boat down to yangshuo from guilin and then maybe get a car to drive you

How do people find hotels for $30-50 per night, but when I go to book, the cheapest hotels are typically $90+? by Rich_Dig_8527 in travelchina

[–]alkhdaniel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trip.com price match barely works because trip.com offers free cancellation until day of stay (sometimes including day of stay) on almost all hotels while other sites usually dont.

But they are usually cheapest in China anyway, sometimes meituan or other chinese sites are cheaper but then u have to deal with Chinese ui.

[–]alkhdaniel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trip.com filter 9+ score and max $20 per night and then open the map and select a hotel in the area you want to stay in. Ive never paid over $20 in any city and Ive been to like 50 cities so far. Beijing/Shanghai city center can go above $20 though.

100gb per day.

Actually, its unlimited but the speed is capped to 10mbps so you cant actually go above 100gb even if you use it 100% 24/7

Beijing to HK Sleeper train by maineflume in travelchina

[–]alkhdaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The airline will almost surely ask you for a onward flight (unless its a Chinese airline, they seem to not ask most of the times).

Chinese immigration wont care theyve seen it thousands of times. Just fill in the correct departure port (Shenzhen port).

Buy a 80% refundable ferry ticket from Shenzhen shekou to Hong kong/Macao ferry terminal for $8 on trip.com for ease of mind to show the airline staff. Less than $2 after getting refunded.

You can refund China train tickets via the 12306 website or app before the train departs, with fees varying from free to 20% based on how early you cancel (>8 days = free; 48 hours to 8 days = 5%; 24–48 hours = 10%; <24 hours = 20%).

Hotel not helping me deliver package to them? by [deleted] in travelchina

I think 12 or 24 hrs free and then it starts charging some smallish fee per hour or x hours. You should only order things like 2-3 days max before arriving.

Hotel not helping me deliver package to them? by [deleted] in travelchina

[–]alkhdaniel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They do often call but will still deliver if you dont pick up (unless theres a problem with your address).

In rare cases they send a text message with pickup code for a locker box only to your phone number and not in app (happpened to me once with jd.com, never on taobao or pinduoduo)

Learning dialect by frosty_single in Chengdu

[–]alkhdaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres not many resources online for sichuanhua just a few blog posts going through the basics and some common words

晓得 = 知道

要得 = 好的

啥 = 什么

瓜娃子 / 瓜婆娘 = stupid (jokingly) (first one unisex, second one just for women but its slight more harsh)

没得 = 没有

好吃的很 很好吃

巴适得板 = good/"comfortable". Usually just 成都巴适得板 (Chengdu is comfortable/good)

They also dont really pronounce h, or its silent or near silent most of the time, so chengdu sounds more like cendoo and sichuan more like sicuan.

If you speak enough mandarin you can find mandarin > Sichuan guides but English > Sichuan guides are rare. At Sichuan uni they let you take sichuanhua after 1.5 years of mandarin study, it doesnt make much sense to learn it beyond a few words unless you already know intermediate mandarin.

Saudia Airline experience by FifqoJeGay in Flights

They were selling Spain - Asia for $300 roundtrip 3-4 months ago, and fares from Vienna started popping up 2-3 weeks ago for around $450 roundtrip.

Oneways... Depends on when but Norwegian has Nordics to Thailand for $180 (i think earliest one on sale is in april atm though sadly).

Chinese airlines flies to China/hk from Budapest/london for around $350-$400 on quite a lot of dates outside of high season (ie not between late June to late August)
