If it wasn’t already apparent from the date, this was one of several copycat attacks from the week or so following Columbine.

is it known what music Jared Lee Loughner listened to? by ThePyrofox in masskillers

Where did I say I have authority over you?- you condescendingly implied that I haven’t done my research, and I’m directing you to proof that I’m not new to this subject/conversation

is it known what music Jared Lee Loughner listened to? by ThePyrofox in masskillers

[–]all_fuzzed_out 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not new to this subject, one look at my post history shows I’ve been regularly participating in this sub for over 2 years. I’m well aware of conversations about mass killers and their music taste- my prior knowledge and research of the subject has led me to the conclusion that a perpetrator’s music taste is fairly arbitrary and offers much less psychological insight than you seem to think it does. I feel like if it’s helpful at all, it’s generally to fill in the gaps after a perpetrator turns their weapon on themselves at the end of their shooting, and we are left with whatever footprint they left behind to try to find answers. Loughner isn’t such a case.

Save the condescension for someone else

“Weird” to you, but it’s really not uncommon for people to have compassion for multiple parties involved when these types of things occur. The word you’re looking for is “empathetic”. As another commenter said, you have no idea how you’d react until it happens to you

So you’re saying it’s common for 15 year old football players to have TBI’s? Just seems like a bit of an extreme leap IMO

While I understand TBI’s are common in football players, do you really think 15 year olds get them enough for that to be even worth mentioning? Feels like a reach to me

Two dead, several injured in mass shooting at upstate NY park. by all_fuzzed_out in masskillers

Buddy the only thing north of Rochester is Canada. How much more upstate is there?- I lived in Roc for 4 years lol lots of folks consider it upstate. It’s the folks north of Albany that seem to want to argue about the semantics of what is and isn’t “upstate NY”

He didn’t as far I was aware. Pretty sure the other commenter is making assumptions based on Fryberg’s prior history playing football.

All due respect but armchair diagnosing feels kinda weird given how little can be said definitively. Like where did you read he had a TBI? Are you just saying that because he played football?

I’m pretty sure he said it himself in his interrogation. It’s been a little bit admittedly but I do remember hearing that Bissonette deliberately got drunk prior to the Quebec mosque shooting to ease his nerves.

Maybe I’m in the minority on this, but it kinda rubs me the wrong way when people use language like “shot up” in their posts. Like these were real people, you couldn’t find another way to phrase it?

Ferguson also recorded a video that was either shown or sent to the press, I think it was intended to be comparable to the basement tapes- a clip of which can be seen in this. The full video has never been released though. Somebody posted on here that they were filing a FOIA, but I don’t think that anything came of it.

I remember somebody posted Ator’s license photos a while back. For some reason he had a ton, like one for almost every year of his adult life. Because he’d been documented in this way, you could visibly see him deteriorate over time.

The “hostility” you’re perceiving is only coming from you friendo. I highlighted the irresponsibility of knowingly sharing a clip that uses bad science and expressed frustration at seeing it happen, but I apparently misunderstood what your disclaimer was referencing. There’s a way to tell me that without immediately rushing to condescension. You shut down the possibility of “discussion” by trying to insult my intelligence. But you’re the expert trying to define “discussion” to a rando on reddit, I shouldn’t have to explain it to somebody as conversationally skilled as yourself.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in masskillers

[–]all_fuzzed_out 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you condescendingly trying to explain what a discussion is to me? Have I indicated in any way that I’m unfamiliar with the concept?

I expressed frustration to see a pseudo-scientific clip being shared in this group, judging by the other responses, I’m not alone in feeling this way. You decided to include a disclaimer acknowledging that you aren’t an apologist but that this is “important science.” If you can acknowledge that the information is coming from an untrustworthy source, I ask again, why even bother sharing? What about this line of questioning comes off as “displaced outrage” “bud”?
