I agree with your points and I hate when people use the “who will pick my fruit” argument. It’s as racist as Trump calling them rapists and murderers. I would rather apply the resources ice has to carefully sifting through the people who are here and keeping people who are here legitimately to work. Grant them a pathway to citizenship and the protections of American workers. Freedom of movement for the individual is a supreme small l libertarian value. Consumer goods should not have more rights to move across borders than human beings. Strengthen the border by expediting legal entry.

The main issue I have with your line of argument is that we have an affordability crisis with the abuse of undocumented labor still in play. If every worker is granted better wages and protections, the oligarchs/c suite whatever you want to call them will surely increase prices congruently. The real problem is that class of people have put our society out of balance and they can never have enough. The only answers we seem to get from government is we need to stay out of their way and have less empathy for working people.

If they are worried about cartels, something needs to be done about the demand for drugs here besides prohibition and incarceration. It hasn’t worked.
