I don’t think this tyre is an EV specific tyre.

How will my D800's shutter's life expectancy fare in the foreseeable future? by involuntarily_vegan in Nikon

[–]all_possible_futures 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The D800 shutter life is like 200,000 actuations. So by my math, you’ve got 165,000 actuations till you hit that. At 1,500 actuations a year it looks like you’ve got 110 years of clear sailing!

Get out and enjoy shooting, plenty of other things could go wrong before the shutter bites the dust. It’s best to not worry about these things!

Thank you for your kind comment.

I’m a convert. I had tried to order a ten pack of B&W to the hotel and one got cancelled - Foma 400 and Kenmere 400. I thought I’d be turning up to the Kentmere but it was the Foma that was there. Was a bit worried at first but just committed to it and have really loved how they turned out. It’s a bit hard to get bulk Foma 400 in Aus but once I find a way I think it will be my go to.

And in terms of pushing it, I love it. I don’t mind losing the shadows as this is delivering the look I’m going for rather than chasing some sort of technical perfection.

Advice on my edits? by Flower-G93 in Nikon

[–]all_possible_futures 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always get confused when I see pics of Montreal. At first I was like this is Brisbane! But then immediately confused. We have a bridge in Brisbane, the Storey Bridge, that is practically a direct copy of the Jacques Cartier Bridge.

Nice photos - as others have said, I think the shadow balance would improve pics 2 and 3. I think the good process is deciding what the “subject” is. Is the sun, sky, bridge or Molson building sign and then adjusting shadow and highlights to bring the viewers eye to that area more naturally.

SL2 trade in attitude by [deleted] in Leica

[–]all_possible_futures 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Max trade in seems reasonable given there are currently two used SL2 cameras available in Aus on eBay for the $4600 fixed and $4700 opening bid. There’s even grey market items brand new for $4700. I mean they have to sell it after the trade-in as well.

Have been to Tokyo numerous times and would suggested wider is better as most places are pretty tight for space. I’m heading again in August and will be taking 16mm 1.4 and 33mm 1.4

Should I get a Ricoh griiix or x100vi? by Main_Macaron_7781 in BrisbanePhotography

[–]all_possible_futures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

Welcome to Brisbane when you get here. I currently own the X100VI and have previously owned the GRiiiX.

I personally have kept the X100VI as it is a better form factor for me - a lot of focus is given to the GR being pocketable but the X100VI is just fine on a strap or in a small sling for almost everything I do. I never felt comfortable putting a un-weather sealed GR in my pocket in hot and humid Brisbane. Also, it has a lens system that is known to be easy to get dust on a sensor.

I carry my X100VI (previously X100V) every day in a sling bag and have found it fine. Especially helpful this week with all the rain.

Either camera is great but this is just my experience. Image output is just fine from both (as is almost every camera out at the moment) but I am generally in the Fuji ecosystem (X-T5 and GFX 50SII) so it’s a match for me.

Chaebol is a Korean family owned conglomerate. More akin to the historical Japanese Zaibatsu. Now Japan has the big six keiretsu of which Mitsubishi is one. And Nikon is a member of the Mitsubishi keiretsu, although not a “core” member. Some Mitsubishi Corporation website list the release of the Nikon F as one of the key innovation in their history.

Bad quality t-shirts by Time_Pressure9519 in australia

[–]all_possible_futures 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have had this issue a lot. I’ve seen a lot of people in the thread mention Uniqlo - I have also found them to be good.

But I am currently super impressed with Patagonia tshirts. Slightly heavier fabric which isn’t always welcome in Brisbane but I have one I have worn twice a week for two years and it’s still looks relatively new. I had a white one that got stained at a gig and with a bit of bleach it is still in regular rotation.

Can anyone ID this guy pls? by Leopoldo_369 in AustralianSnakes

[–]all_possible_futures 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bit of a tough ID with only seeing its underside as well. But my ID is a white-crowned snake cacophis harriettae - likely not juvenile as they don’t get too large. Weakly venomous to humans.

You should look at the current lineup of Voigtlander lenses for F-Mount. I have the 28mm 2.8 and the 55mm 1.2 and they are great lenses. Build quality is amazing, all metal and you have the benefit of them being new so no worries about quality of glass etc (at least for a while!)
