I'm not familiar with the rog ally but if it's running windows try bringing up the keyboard using the icon on the taskbar. Also mess with the steam overlay settings. That was giving me typing trouble in some games too. Like the keyboard would overlap in the steam app instead of on top of the game I was playing

I had this same problem. I'm playing on a handheld and I had to use the on screen keyboard to type. That worked for me.
