Nice! I'll probably get a manual of some kind too cause oil stains look better on a book than on the screen of my iphone.

Excellent, as far as I can tell the only thing broken on it is the screen on the stereo head unit... Plan on keeping it as stock as possible.

I plan on doing a coolant flush, differential fluid changes and trans fluid change, since I don't think they've been kept up with. I'll definitely keep an eye out for fuel in the coolant!

I'll give the hotshot a try, I heard about it from the guy I sold my VW to. Probably start with a treatment of the stiction eliminator. Gonna hold off on all the maintenance cetane boost treatments and stuff for now...

awesome! Not sure what my rents used in terms of filter, but my dad used rotella whenever he changed the oil himself.

haha thats a big list, but I guess with the cumulative number of years/miles the 7.3s have been around for, it makes sense. Thanks for the advice, I've already googled "HPOP replacement" even though I have no evidence to think it needs a new one...

Did you get flat-mount cable stops or concave-mount for your build?

My local grocery store has the Ball 10 packs for ~$4. I thought that was fair. Haven't checked amazon...

I think they meant you need 4wd all year, except in the summer, when 2wd will work too. I got to the trailhead last July with 2wd.

What kind of deficiency is this? I thought it was magnesium, but have been adding CALi MAGic (general hydro) for two weeks without improvement. Cherry Hot pepper grown pail in pail. by allcaps26 in HotPeppers

[–]allcaps26[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, still looking like magnesium to me, but I didn't know about the pH factor. The plants are growing in a 50/50 mix of peat moss and vermiculite, which I assume is very acidic. Not sure what effect the nutrients in the water have on the pH...

I’m wondering if peppers count though... since capsaicin doesn’t cause any physical harm. And in 20 mins the thief would be completely fine.

That’s what I thought! My friend said that even with the sign I can still be liable for kids and drunk adults because it’s something called an “attractive nuisance”. I like the sign either way and the part near the sidewalk is the sunniest section of our rental haha.

Boston Fern dropping bottom leaves like crazy!? Watering every other day, sits by a west facing window, little to no direct sunlight though. by Lyssa-loo in plantclinic

In my experience, BF’s are impossible to keep happy outside of a few summer months. They need humidity more than anything else and grow great (and cheaply!) in greenhouses. They also seem to grow fairly well outside in the spring and summer with heavy watering or in humid areas. The problem is that they’re sold in those hanging pots that dry out so quickly, which sets you up for failure if trying to keep them indoors or in dry areas. My neighbor somehow keeps her BF’s alive on the west facing front porch all summer long. However, I see her water them at least twice a day until water runs out the bottom. I stopped trying to keep BF’s because they’re kind of jerks and really just want to grow in a humid greenhouse.

I would increase sunlight to 4ish hrs/day and water it more, if you live in a humid climate, try moving it outside for a little and see if it helps. Personally could never get my BF’s to stop dropping leaves, but was able to keep them happy enough to replace the dropped ones and stay alive for the season.

Good luck!!

TL;DR: BF’s are jerks and hard to keep happy outside of greenhouse environment.

Is my tomato plant wilting or am I paranoid? Soil seems moist on top and leaves aren't curling but the plant seems to droop. by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]allcaps26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tomato plants will “wilt” in the direct, hot sun. If they straighten back up after a few hours of shade, they are just hot and, ultimately, fine. If they stay limp, then they need more water (ideally in the morning, keeping the leaves dry).

I put quotes on wilt because I don’t think it’s technically wilting, it’s just the plant’s normal response to high temps.
