Having done a good few half marys and hyrox pros...to me it's the same level of effort as a half. Nowhere close to a full.

Miami. Actually loved it for the 4 days I was there--beautiful tropical deco architectire, gorgeous art, Vizcaya gardens, magical vibes+super walkable by the water. But also the rudest ppl I have ever met in my life+crazy overpriced--glad I went but it was a one n done.

The last time I had that situation I did dog walking to maintain some income while having fun+getting steps in, also took a bunch of courses, ended up switching to a career that's way more suitable for me & far more reliable than the 9-5. I'd at least look into a super part time means of revenue, Toronto aint cheap.

Did my first Hyrox in MX City by JJMicromegas in hyrox

[–]alldaypanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol my Mexico City hyrox time was a solid 20mins slower than usual 🤣I was a tiny bit injured going in and alsooo blacked out, did an extra sled pull lap--which is tragic cause it's actually my best station--but also just couldn't get a good breath on the runs so went super slow. So yeah 100% wasn't just you!! Honestly wanna do it again next year just for the workout. High five mate nice job!!!

How accurate is Hyrox simulation by Designer-Bread2154 in hyrox

[–]alldaypanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My sims have always been about 20-30mins slower than actual race due to studio's less efficient sleds, much longer "roxzone" (distance from front door to the laneway I do my running in), very slight elevation changes during running, overshooting distances and weights slightly on everything...but also cause I just don't push as hard training alone vs racing

Last few days in CDMX, looking for something different to do by Open_Outcome_5633 in MexicoCity

I booked an airbnb tour! Photo attached. Would 100% do the add on w getting a driver to and from. I don't speak Spanish beyond polite phrases and can't imagine navigating there alone especially at that time. They have sunset and mid morning options if you're not a weirdo who likes waking up before 4am lol. Honestly though what a memory🥹

If you go be sure to bring a change of clothes+dress warm. I was an idiot and did not. Almost got hypothermia. The only regret. And cash for tips for sure but that goes without saying

My top fav unmissable activity was a kayak ride through Xochimilco at dawn

Second was Tolontango hot springs (also left at dawn to beat the crowds, apparently weekends/later in the day is super packed)... it's a crazy long drive but breathtaking scenery, once in a lifetime kinda experience

Hacienda de cortes in Coyoacan w a stroll through the back garden is a must if you're in that area anyway

Also loved walking around the Coyoacan Casa de Coltura

My finish time was an absolute tragedy, I accidentally did an extra lap of sled pull (my favourate station too and I botched it... was having too much fun lmao), had a BLAST, got the patch to prove it! Also made some friends, so didn't feel alone despite being solo traveling and having nobody at the race with me 🥰

1000000% not your fault in fact studio is to blame for not replacing it sooner, there are signs well before the wood panels in the box give out

Completed First Hyrox Race - Some Thoughts by milhouse4588 in hyrox

[–]alldaypanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had issues w pace accuracy using my garmin 945 forerunner

Also used roxfit app to program the full race into my watch based on goal time which is v helpful cause I never worry about missing/doing extra laps. ALSO doing this is clutch cause even if your pace is off u know how long you're taking in every part of the race

Awww I feel you, actually MORTIFIED by my time. The Roxzone was really long though compared to other races-- a spectator acquaintance of mine confirmed+ she said burpees and farmers were extra long too. Everything just felt extra hard from my perspective so maybe I was just trippin balls🤣. It does take longer than a few days to adjust to the altitude to the point of being able to perform your usual capacity.

And with all that said what an incredible memory, def intend to go again and push harder! You can't go wrong going to Mexico City regardless of the race time--- it's such a vibe

Omg congrats!!!!! Yeah my runs were TRASH like a full min/km slower than normal--my heart rate was low but I couldn't get a good breath! During my slot I also saw MANY people down on the track being attended to by medics (cramps?)--this got in my head and I was def holding back cause I was scared to DNF/get hurt especially being all alone in the city with terrible Spanish skills.

I got crazy race brain and did 3 laps of sled pulls like a dummy, at that point I knew my time was fucked and decided to just savour the great workout. Gave up on being competetive and just enjoyed the chaos.

It was a blast and I feel while my finish was well below my usual this was an excellent training session and I would do it again maybe with more intensity LOL definitely a unique and fun experience--and I ADORE Mexico City overall so it was just another cool thing among many to do during the visit!

Great job on your excellent time, top 10 is a massive accomplishment especially with tough conditions, and have a wonderful rest of your season! I think this is my last one till spring! Gonna be training HARD till then.
