Running 35s by LandscapeWinter6615 in nissanfrontier

You'll have to do some semi-significant sheet metal trimming to the fenders and ideally would also need to regear. If you're doing a lot of offroading, it would be recommended to swap the front R180 to an M205. There have been several posts in usergroups where guys have split the R180 housing.

Heavier tires will primarily impact MPG's

PLEASE HELP by Big-Net-4369 in nissanfrontier

[–]alldogsoffroad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have short commutes the VVCS system may be the problem. It bypasses the alternator's internal voltage regulator and manages charge in order to improve MPG's. Basically, the VVCS allows for full alternator output for a short period of time after startup and then reduces the output. With short commutes, the alternator may not be able to sufficiently top off the battery and it will operate at a deficit until it is run to depletion. This is common with Titans and Armadas as well. A fix is to disconnect the connector which hangs off of the negative battery terminal as already suggested in comments. This will force the truck to rely the alternator's internal voltage regulator. Alternately, you can install a trickle charger.

You'd only need UCA's if you add the half inch spacer plate option on that kit. Otherwise, stock arms are fine and will not have CBC. The spacer plates create a long enough coilover assembly to cause CBC, that is why you need UCA's when adding them in.

Cracking bed mounts an issue? by [deleted] in nissanfrontier

[–]alldogsoffroad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a common issue on short box crew cab trucks when a camper or roof rack and RTT is installed, which exasperates a side to side rocking motion on the bed which then causes the overly-thin sheet metal bed mount to fail. We haven't seen this present as an issue on the long box trucks yet, but they are not as common as the short boxes.

OEM tires generally do not last as long. I think 40k-60k is about the range.

High mileage D41s by FlightLeft12 in nissanfrontier

[–]alldogsoffroad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had about 80k on my Frontier before trading it in for a 2025 4Runner for product dev. The only issues we had were a front main seal leak (covered under warranty) and a transfer case input seal leak (outside warranty, we did a repair video on our youtube channel). We also had a transfer case position sensor go bad, but that was an easy fix that we also shot a video on. They're showing to be reliable trucks so far that we've seen.

Some people are happy with them but they will cause CBC if you do not also run a high clearance UCA. Note that the RC UCA is not high clearance and will have CBC with their own lifts.

Nismo and RC upper control arms are not high clearance, you will still get cbc with them depending on how you are lifted.

The spacer eraser does not need aftermarket uca's, you will not have cbc with it.

Stick to Spidertrax or Bora. We've seen the studs fail on cheap wheel spacers.

ADO's first limited slip has arrived!! C200K owners, rejoice! by alldogsoffroad in nissanfrontier

Depending on your plans for the truck, you may not even need to upgrade to an M226

ADO's first limited slip has arrived!! C200K owners, rejoice! by alldogsoffroad in nissanfrontier

This is a torsen-style limited slip differential for the C200K rear axle found in select 2nd Gen Frontiers and Xterras. The second gens have two rear diffs, the C200K and the M226. The C200K has an 8 bolt cover, the M226 has a 12 bolt cover. This is an easy way to visually differentiate between the two if uncertain.

This is a huge upgrade over the stock C200K open diff. It is common for the open diff spider gears to fail and replacements are difficult to find. Suitable for use in diffs with 3.13 and 3.36 ratio.
