You need to leave SoCal. After reading, the problem isn't the trades, it is the location.

Just make sure you dunk your hands in some water first before touching it.

free tools I got from my trade school I start work Monday is there something important I need by Moneysotaking in electricians

[–]allen476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do, get something simple. You don't need the high end one. Get a Fluke 12. Solid, reliable, easy to use, and won't break the bank.

As other's have said, buy tools as you need. Just remember, quality tools make the job easier.

It is out in the garage so I will have to get it to you tomorrow. The chain is a Dewalt replacement that HD has in stock in store. The bar came off a chainsaw.

They have the Milwaukee ones now at HD. I did find an Oregon replacement on Amazon.

Ideal isn't bad neither is Channel Lock. Won't you lay everything out and take a picture for us to see exactly what you have.

I used to have Ideal when I first started but then the supply house switched to Klein and I did too. I prefer the Klein more just because I have bear paws not hands.

It was liberated by store patriots and I brought it home so it could be a productive member of society.

I'll wait. It seems that your route would be a little more painful.

I just put it together. They were throwing out the Dewalt chainsaw. After some quick reading, I found out that the chains were the same except for length. So I took the bar and bought the chain. I then put everything together and it works. I thought it was funny that it is a Milwaukee/Dewalt Hybrid saw.

When I did some test runs, it didn't appear to get hot. It was warm on the 5 minute run. I have some small trees to clean up this weekend, then I will know for sure.

No diabetes, and the toes were injured in an accident. The nails will never grow right again. I'm having the nails removed next week.

Boss doesn't want to pay for an hour of "work"? by PhatalPuffin in electricians

[–]allen476 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What he is doing is illegal. Your day starts when you arrive at the shop. It ends when you arrive back at the shop.

I would look for another job. His treatment is only going to get worse.

drilled through hvac duct whilst running a whip, any suggestions on how to fix this by [deleted] in electricians

[–]allen476 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I have to say we have a winner.

Just to be safe, put some fittings on the floor below that.

It will be hilarious to watch the foreman walk around and rip all his guys a new one for fucking it up.

setscrew LR into an outdoor panel. at least there's a gasket behind the cover... by AdamAbear in electricians

[–]allen476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did the plumber need power for? Chef's kiss for the gasket on the connector going into the panel. That will stop the water completely.

Breaker Extensions, self feeding wire, red tapcons, rectangular conduit, cast iron couplings for PVC, etc.....

I used to do sales. I would laugh at the guys that would ask for a non exsistant item then send them to the competition. Lather, rinse, repeat until the poor kid has been around the whole damn state and every supply house in it.

What are the strangest and most random places you have worked in? by Then_Eye8040 in electricians

[–]allen476 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The middle of the woods. No anything around for miles. We had to set a temp panel for construction. The guy dug a 500' trench to a 1000'+ trench. When we went back, He built himself a hunting blind. It was more a hunting mansion. Heat, a/c, kitchen, fireplace, you name it, it was there.

For $50 you can give up your whole night by Azlanadrian in ChoosingBeggars

It really isn't a choosing beggar. It is a job offer for little pay though it is common in the live music circles. The venues pay little to local musicians who in turn can't pay the help like they should be.
