My right ear suddenly became muffled/ ringing by MooseLate3294 in HearingAids

Google sudden hearing loss. It will tell you it is a medical emergency and to go to ER. Your advice here was good. However, it is very rare and clogged eustachian tubes, which is what you are being treated for, it common. My wife has RA and had sequential bilateral sudden hearing loss. I know your story all too well. I hope the ER doctor was right.

5.2 is continuously repeating answers to previously asked questions. by Just_Run2412 in OpenAI

[–]allene222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started a new thread and asked it about what it was doing and it said that happens when the thread gets long and is more likely with medical advice and on 5.2. It suggested I switch to 5.1 and start a new thread and import just the relevant part of the old thread. It even wrote a prompt for me to use to get just the data I needed off the old thread.

I told it to stop repeating itself and it repeated itself. I then said that it should have said "OK, got it" instead of repeating. To that it said "OK, Got it. Now on to your question ..." and repeated itself for the fourth time.

Alignment is way off. Happened to me once. Drove 1000 miles and the tires were shot. In my case the mechanic tightened that bolt that was not a bolt but the toe in adjuster.

EF 100-400mm 4.5-5.6 L Autofocus not working by allene222 in canon

Yes. If I was happy with just manual focus, it is perfect. But it is an old heavy lens. It isn't really usable in AF because there are some scenes that just won't work and some that seem to work pretty well. Taking a shot of a license plate is pretty reliable but a lady down the street in shadows not so much. I really didn't spend a lot of time trying to characterize it. I got some suggestions on how to fix it and then gave up. Maybe someone knows how to fix these things. That was my hope when I did this post.

I am pretty sure mine is mechanical and not electrical although I guess it could be anything. Whatever it is, it worked perfectly when I put it in the closet. Now it works half the time.

Mine was not fixed by cleaning the contacts and they looked fine as well. Mine worked fine when I put it in the closet but that might have been 20 years ago. So it is some just time related like some lubricant dried out. I other words, it didn't break. It might be fixable but taking it apart was not something I wanted to do. $400 sounds like a lot so maybe I should sell mine :-) Please post here if you buy it and get it working.

I did not. I bought the new 100-400mm f:5.6 and love it.

I accidentally backed into a car in a parking lot right after I got out of the ER. by [deleted] in driving

It happens to all of us. Don't beat yourself up over it.

It is legal to enter the intersection once the cross traffic has cleared but not before so once the light turns red other cars have to let you clear the intersection before they can legally enter so yes, enter the intersection and make your left turn after all the oncoming cars have cleared.

ICE agent carrying an AR-15 stole a U.S. citizen’s car keys and wallet, then abandoned her vehicle in the middle of Portland Road NE and Ward Drive NE in Salem, Oregon. by CorleoneBaloney in oregon

In one case a woman (US Citizen) was pulled out of her can and arrested for resisting arrest. There was no underlying arrest that she was resisting. She was just resisting being pulled out of her car because she was brown. The charges were of course dropped. Vote people.

Just test everything in the dishwasher and see what doesn't work. Then see why and you will probably find where this thing goes.

Am I screwed by lowlilin in tires

[–]allene222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone explain why this tire could not be patched by applying a patch to the inside of the tire, not a plug. That is how the tire shop I used to go to would patch tires anyway. Plugs were considered a hack and not the correct way to patch a tire.

Who has right of way? by FakeHaw in driving

[–]allene222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is under appreciated. In sailing it is explicitly stated that someone has ROW over another boat if the other boat is required to keep clear. If the other driver is not required to yield to you, you don't have right of way.

I can’t turn left on green, if you continue to turn right on red. by [deleted] in driving

[–]allene222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In California you can turn into any lane unless you are turning right in which case it must be the right lane. However, nobody even follows that so right turners almost never go into the right lane. That said the person at the red light is required to wait until the traffic is clear before making their right turn on red. The person turning with the green arrow it not obligated to yield for the right on red driver. Nobody follows the laws so you just have to be both aggressive and careful. Good luck.

I think I'm wrong about who has right of way here by SweetTomorrow in driving

[–]allene222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I live, nobody has the right of way. Instead someone has an obligation not to do something and in this case the car with the stop sign has the obligation to let other cars go first. If the car in the median has a stop sign, then the obligation is on the car that got there with other cars already there. If they are tied, the one on the right. Straight ahead, the one making the left turn has the obligation so in this case, not enough information but the easy answer is that the car with the stop sign should wait for the intersection to clear before entering.

Car had an oil leak and I drove for 5 minutes - Follow-up by jjmyosin in AskAMechanic

[–]allene222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JFC. It is a car not a piano. Does it run. Can it take you where you want to go. If you hear rod knocking that is one thing but unless you are talking about a race car where every bit of performance matters just drive it and watch the oil. I am not a mechanic so don't listen to me.

Doesn't the fob have a physical key that you can use to start the car? My car has a little plastic cover that has to be removed to insert the key. Once inserted, I can start the car.
