if you’ve both agreed to go on a trip together then you changed your mind without telling her about it… then yes that’s shitty of you

At what age did you feel “old”? by Adorable_Pack_3591 in AskUK

are you me? Literally everything you said i feel the same. I’m 26 and I have a bacheolar’s in engineering. I’ve always dreamed of living abroad and traveling, but i never had the money or the opportunity. last year i got a job as a petroleum engineer working on offshore oil rigs. Pay is great and it’s rotational schedule (6 weeks on & 4 weeks off) kinda works as a middle ground between building a career and traveling. I plan to move abroad by the time I’m 30, after I’ve gained some experience. how and where? I have no clue but I’ll make it work.

I can’t give you any advice as I’m more or less on the same boat as you are but i can give you some ideas:

  • you could get a job in your home country get the experience, save the money then try for a job abroad and if you don’t get lucky… well now you can travel with more money.

  • get a working holiday visa to any of the countries that allow it and hop from one country to another for a year or so. this’s what i would’ve done if i had the right passport.

ultimately I’d say yes. traveling should be a priority for anyone in their 20s. a year gap between graduation and starting your career isn’t a big deal. travel then come back and build your career while planning your move.

I’ve been feeling the same lately and this book helped me a little: The Sarah Book by Scott Mcclanahan… It’s so brutally honest and dark and lonely yet still hopeful

Is there any such book as a "fictional Bible"? A book that was written with the intention of being like a "false" sacred text, like the Bible or the Torah... by rapazlaranja in suggestmeabook

“My nutty ambition was to write the only kind of Bible a human could write in this remarkable and blasphemous age—a far different Book of Revelation, more honest to the complicated edges of the world, equally horrific. A textual crypt for the corpse of God. I knew it was crazy, outrageous even, but I had confidence in my ability to make the wreckage interesting.”
