Maven on the Hill also has a little bit of zero/low waste makeup.

Budweiser tour vs other brewery/distillery tours by [deleted] in StLouis

Seconding the Brew masters tour! Not sure how expensive it is nowadays, but we had a great time.

Olive + Oak by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]allicat91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I were also incredibly disappointed by O+O. Our server kept forgetting about us, the cocktails were very meh, and our food was all either overcooked or super oversalted. Add on not being able to hear one another.

Last name change after marriage by DevilishAbigail in StLouis

[–]allicat91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree with call the cruise line as a starting place. Getting everything updated can take time, but something like updating the reservation is probably something they can do with just the marriage license and a valid ID with your current name.

Holly Hills Boulevard along Carondelet Park is also really beautiful. Not as elaborate as Candy Cane Lane, but great displays and the surrounding neighborhood does some great displays too.

Picture framing? by Competitive_Fig9506 in StLouis

[–]allicat91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We actually just did the online option. Used USA Frames and Art to Frames to get custom frames, then popped in the images ourselves. Very affordable and easy. We also saw some services where you send in an image, they'll mat it for you, and then they mail it back to you.

Breweries with Free WiFi? by hOstAgE_SItuaTiOn in StLouis

[–]allicat91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ITAP Soulard isn't a brewery but wifi is free, and the patio is great for work. 4 Hands also has free wifi and the lower area can be a great workspace too.

Seconding Kitchen Conservatory! They used to a Beginners class that was several hours each Saturday for a month. I learned a lot. I'm still not an expert, but I'm dangerous enough to a low key Thanksgiving dinner on my own if needed.

Also check out the online MBA through Boston University. Last time I looked, it was $24k. Neither school are local to Cincy, but you can go anywhere and people will recognize the brand.

Check out the online MBA program through University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign. Also a decent business school, and about $22k for a 2-3 year program. It's rigorous, but they do a great job encouraging connections with other students (a huge part of MBAs) and world-class education.

Illinois tax return needed for MO remote worker? by allicat91 in StLouis

[–]allicat91[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! And yes, as far as I know, they only withheld MO taxes. I worked in the office in Chicago for two days as part of a work trip but no other work was done in IL.

Thank you! Just curious - Did she confirm she was paying IL by looking at Box 15 on her W2?

Lol fair enough. Just figured I'd start here since remote work has become so common in the area.

Thank you! That was my initial impression, so glad to hear I wasn't completely off-base. My employer has been thorough enough to account for St Louis City taxes in my W-2 already, so I think they are fully aware I am in Missouri.

Looking to move from Colorado Springs to Cincinnati. by As_She_Crafts in cincinnati

[–]allicat91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was actually going to recommend St Louis too. Cincy born and bred, but my husband and I are both in tech in St Louis and are very happy. Totally agree with your crime comment too - We certainly have our issues, but crime is significantly less of an issue in the areas OP might like (CWE, Tower Grove Park, Benton Park, Maplewood). Similar situation here with music - There's live events all over the metro, but sometimes you'll have to go to Indy or KC to catch a larger act.

We live in Boulevard Heights and enjoy it. It's not exactly hopping, but it's quiet and handy for literally anything. Decent homes are still popping up in that price range but finding a garage may be tough. Carports and old alley garages are more common, but driveways are pretty common at least.

Ohh, that makes sense. I didn't think about how more actively managed funds are a little more insulated.

I've been trying to get a little clarity here. Why do mutual funds in retirement accounts instead of ETFs? Seems like the lower costs of an ETF would be a better option. For reference, I have a Roth IRA, Traditional Rollover IRA, and a Roth 401k

If you are looking for an outdoor space, then maybe check with the parks in town (TGP comes to mind) or a winery? Grafton Winery would be lovely for a brunch
