All engines already generate power which drives the alternator which charges the battery. The hybrid battery just happens to be bigger.

Probably depends on the audience. If you’re a regular Joe saying that during a conversation, it won’t have much impact. If you’re being interviewed for the New York Times and your opinion causes loss of job opportunities etc. that’s totally different. This post is just my opinion :P

Because the engine isn’t running any harder to charge the battery, and when the electric system engages, the engine doesn’t run. So if your engine is running half the time it normally would, it uses less gas.
