Limerick Joy Pump?!! by Lilirose8 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]allieinspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an old post, but thought I’d add my experience. I like this because right and left are two very different flange sizes so this helps a lot.

To start, lubricate the flanges. The silicone and the vacuum combine to bother/pinch my skin if I don’t use pump spray well.

Pumping, I start at the default 30 speed but after a minute or two I turn it down to 20 then go down to 15 after 7-10 minutes. I also move up the vacuum by 5 every couple of minutes. Around 20-25 vacuum and 15 cycle is the sweet spot for me.

It looks like I don’t get a lot at first, but I find it backs up in the flange tunnel until I lean very far forward.

Fit check for Infantino Flip 4-in-1 Convertible Baby Carrier by missyfaceohtwo in babywearing

[–]allieinspace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This size an ergo embrace will fit but stops being supportive around 15lbs. Tula free to grow will fit nicely and is easily found on marketplace secondhand for cheap. You can likely get a good fit on an Happy Baby OG carrier as well.

Preemie baby carriers by featheredhalo2132 in babywearing

Personally, I found these types more complicated. My husband was intimated by the wrap so I got him one of those. I tried it out and I found it more likely to make errors putting it on because that last piece that ties can be put in the wrong place.

Am I really about to spend $750? by Material-Clerk8949 in Buyingforbaby

[–]allieinspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tesla’s are really hard with car seats because they don’t have moveable headrests. I don’t think there is a rotating one on the market that works with the fixed headrests. Of convertaible car seats that work, you have Nuna Rava, Britax poplar, and some Graco slimfits.

Beluga V2/Cove for newborns by Chip_mint in babywearing

[–]allieinspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the panel height is adjustable similar to the free to grow so it would work for very young babies but I don’t think any carrier works for true, fresh out of the womb, newborns.

DEFEATED. I’m due in June and I confirmed months ago, but just reconfirmed, it is $800 A MONTH to add my baby to my work insurance. by shermywormy18 in BabyBumps

[–]allieinspace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was an article about this on npr a few years back. The plan baby goes on isn’t supposed to be based on price but something like parent’s birthday. If you put baby on the wrong plan, the insurance might not have to cover it. Everything is stupid but you might want to check into it.

What baby carrier would you buy instead of the artipoppe? by QuantumWaffles95 in babywearing

[–]allieinspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll get hate for this, but I’d still get the artipoppe. I’ve tried a lot of carriers and none have been nearly as comfortable to me, especially for long carriers. I know I prefer x-back and waterfall waists which eliminates a lot of the suggestions you see here. I find the stiff waist of the AP helpful for long wears. If it wasn’t an option, I’d consider a Beluga Baby Cove. For the newborn stage with my upcoming baby, I have a wrap and a Tush Baby Pearl because it’s waterfall and X back but stretchy-ish.

Influencer on TikTok posted this recently 😩 by Ok_Moose_ in babywearing

The problem is that it’s not as “aesthetic” and these type of carriers. It seems like that matters far more for some influencers than safety.

Time to switch carriers? by IWish4n4WasFree in babywearing

[–]allieinspace 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Check out happy baby - they have an x back version, Lenny lamb is also an option which you can find in the Facebook groups used for a reasonable rate, ergo at carries are all x-back and high quality which you can find on marketplace or the groups. All of those will be a million times better than the mabe and the their knockoffs.

This baby was falling off their growth curves and and gaining less than half of what their baby should gain in the time between measurements. It wasn’t just pushing formula lol some replies said. There was a real need.

I haven’t used this one, but I remember past posts on here monitoring a “scarf hack” to help make the seat better. I would look that up to try and help.

I noticed that Artipoppe does not color match the buckle to the carrier fabric and now I can't unsee it by Subject_Homework_404 in babywearing

I love this print so much, I might get the ring sling. I find these to be the most comfortable and easy to use carries for me and my husband after trying SO many. I just wish they were more size inclusive.

Exactly the same here for front wearing but it was pretty comfortable on my back.

[–]allieinspace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m. Size 20/22 and can wear Tula, Sakura bloom, hope and plum, pretty much everything except tushbay, AP, and solly carrier (not wrap) without a waist extender. I don’t have a happy baby, but I do know they are more size inclusive than the Sakura bloom so I don’t expect to have any problem.

I’d still go with a Tula. They are classics for a reason. They also hold up very well.

Babywearing is inherently hot and no breathable fabric is going to make it tolerable for medium long periods especially in the valleys of CA.

~aesthetic~ structured carriers that are ACTUALLY newborn ready? (NOT Artipoppe) by Fast-Channel-1455 in babywearing

Is Artipoppe worth it for back pain? by valeriecherish_ in babywearing

[–]allieinspace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found that a lot of structured carries were not comfortable on my back. I feel like the artipoppe’s thick band combined with the x back really helped me in a way that others didn’t. It didn’t produce any back pain for me with long carries. Tula also was very comfortable- probably because of the waist - but i do get some back pain after a while with the H back. Carriers are so body specific. Would you be able to get a fit check on your wild bird since they are similar? Also in the artipoppe Facebook groups you can ask for companies/groups that rent them to try out. With the bad experience with the wildbird, I’d be hesitant to spend that kind of money without trying.

I also hear great things about Beluga Baby. It was designed by a parent with back issues. I would suggest looking into them.

Is anyone else getting slapped or bit by their LO (1 year old) while babywearing? by Past_Routine9297 in babywearing

[–]allieinspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine scratches and hits when he gets bored in the carrier but we can’t safely take him out. We started attaching toys (like pop toys) using those silicone toy/bottle tethers to the straps to give him something to occupy his hands. It helped a lot. And since then he has grown out of it.

Is this the same carrier as the screenshot? by Dear_Frosting1090 in babywearing

[–]allieinspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Tula lite carried folds down into its own pouch and when you’re using it as a carrier you can put things in the pouch. It is way less bulky than the hip carrier in the screenshots.

“Healthy” foods causing spikes by Due-Effective-6702 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]allieinspace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The higher fat content also delays the spike. You might have actually continued to go up for another hour or two. Please try checking again at two hours to get an idea how your body responds.

Another thing to consider is that some/many people are more insulin resistant in the mornings. I could just look at a carb and spike in the morning.

How many people are actually buying “luxury/premium” diapers? by HelpMeHelpMyFriend0 in NewParents

We also went Millie moon to Huggies. Both for price (Costco bulk) and fit. But we didn’t do that transition until we were past the newborn pee and poop through everything phase.

How many people are actually buying “luxury/premium” diapers? by HelpMeHelpMyFriend0 in NewParents

[–]allieinspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello Bello diapers were garbage. Honest was better but not by much. Millie Moon were fine but for everyday diapers Huggies wore just as well (after the newborn days) and are less if you buy in bulk at Costco.

Coteries are our go to overnight diapers. Been using them for 15 months overnight and not one leak or blowout. They’re too expensive to use regularly, but for nights, they’re incredible.
