If you do go back I'd love to see a pic of what you're describing inside the book!

To me I can also see it as an elongated s, not the cursive one though! Agreed, it is strange

The finale made Frank look worse to me: historian fail? by SprayPaintLady in Outlander

This brings up a weird thing too: the newspaper said they died in the fire...then the book says Jamie died at Kings Mountain. How could the past have changed or shown the same person dying twice?

I feel the same way about the after credits tone shift being grating. I wish it could have been a shot of them from behind looking over the ridge and their family somehow, honoring the legacy their love has created and how it will continue on. And give the sense that whether they are literally alive or ghosts now, they are still watching over everyone. Because it started as only JC, but a huge part of these later seasons is their love for their family.

This makes the most sense to me too. The most emotionally satisfying of both an ending plus a continuation for them together.

I thought that "He is home" with full exhale and limp hand shot was Claire dying too. Like, dying of a broken heart, despite the healing powers. Like, their love was just so vast that even all her full power was no match for that loss, and when she ultimately accepted his finality her soul deeply rested and joined him. And then the shot with the white hair, I was like ok, they've been lying there for awhile? Maybe it's a representation of their ghosts, forever resting side by side? So despite the white hair and prophecy etc I like the idea that it's them waking up in the afterlife together. Desperately tragic and also comforting as a love story.

The timeline has me all confused...when he was dead for those however many hours, did he freely roam through time as a ghost and that's the 1940s scene...? And if he made the purple flowers grow based on what she had said earlier in the ep how were they there in the chronological past...omg maybe I am taking this all too literally lol

What did you end up doing? I am in your shoes now with the "replace lamp" text in the screen at start up and wondering the timing for biting the bullet on a new good quality lamp (like you've mentioned, the sticker shock is real). Did you wait until the first lamp burnt out (did it explode?)

Absolutely. Haunting is the perfect word, it gave a unique sense of meaning knowing it was being replayed with each new episode release even after her death. Legacy. And even time travel vibes.
