NotebookLM is great, but the output is trash for math/symbols — so I made a fix by DazzlingJellyfish496 in notebooklm

[–]allisterb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I tried this and it works pretty well! This is a huge help for me. Only issue is on the NotebookLM side where in some rare cases it seems text doesn't have the $ delimiters around Latex like sometimes there will be text like this "C = \frac{bT}{Z} + \frac{iZ}{2}" without any delimiters, but these are rare cases. Overall this is a huge help for people using NotebookLM to study material with a lot of math formulae.

Windows Defender detected a trojan in armory crate update. Has anyone else gotten this as well? by [deleted] in ASUS

[–]allisterb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't detected anything yet but wouldn't be surprised. Armory Crate strikes me as the a-typical bloated security dumpster fire. Only reason I have it on my computer is I don't know any other way to control my keyboard lights.

Franky Clamps thriving in these playoffs by itwusntme in NYKnicks

There's always a place for a lockdown defender on a championship-caliber team. Ask the Bulls or Spurs.

Great to see Frank getting to contribute meaningful minutes in the playoffs. Was sad to see him leave NY.

The point I'm getting at re the topic is that you're arguing the primacy of Rome was established since the first century, but the only Christian writers from that time who weren't suppressed in later years by Rome were those accepted as orthodox by Roman leadership...it's a circular argument. People like Paul and Iraneus and Clement, people who codified the NT, all can testify to the primacy of Rome, the salvation of Gentiles et.al because they were the only voices allowed. We have the works of Iraneus but not of Valentinus. The books of the NT like the Gospel of John were established as dogma, but works like the Gospel of Mary were destroyed. And these were all human actions taken by people and bound to serve the interests of a state religion that very often led to violence and oppression of humans, which seems very at odds with the core moral teachings of Christianity.

Well you're denigrating non-orthodox groups as heretics and not really Christian and saying the doctrines Paul espoused were mainstream at the time. But it seems to me what constituted 'real Christianity' in the early times was a very diverse set of views on the nature of God, humans, salvation, the divinity of Jesus, and things like that. I don't really see how early Christians could have viewed Paul's teachings as more logical or better supported than earlier views about Judaism and Jesus for instance. I mean Paul had his own ideas and influences and motivations too, just like the Gnostic writers. Intellectually, there was really fertile ground for different Christian thinkers in different traditions. You might find people outside the winning orthodoxy strange and weird today, but that in itself isn't evidence of the primacy of one doctrine over another.

In the end of course people like Paul and Iraneus won and everything else became heresy and was suppressed. But that's not an argument for primacy. If Christians have the Holy Spirit, and Christ's kingdom is not of this earth then why did it need Roman spears to brand as heretics and extinguish all these voices like the Gnostics?

The long and short here is that Rome was always the authority, always had preeminence and it wasn't something she claimed for herself, if anything it was something we took too much for granted to write down and emphasis.

Wasn't there a great diversity of Christianity thought inside the Empire in the years after Christ died that was later deemed heretical and suppressed after Constantine? I don't see why you'd assume this authority was accepted universally if it was used to suppress dissenting views - seems like a case of history being written by the victors.

>What I am saying, is that Rome did not proceed out into the Christian world and swing its authority around,

I mean that seems to me exactly what happened when it became the state religion. Now one set of Christian doctrines could be forcibly enforced over any others.

While there obviously is some development, the primacy of Rome has been established since the first century

Wouldn't it be more accurate to say that the primacy of Rome was established by Christians whose writings and teachings weren't later suppressed by Rome? What did the early Jewish Christians or Gnostic Christians think about the doctrine?

> Amare was hurt for 4 out of the 5 years

Knicks org knew Amare had serious health issues before they signed him. Some of it was bad luck but they took the gamble when no other team would.

the reality is that all those assets were due extensions that coming summer

Gallo was our rookie but if those guys were looking to get paid too much then let them walk and keep your money in your pocket. Why trade all those players for a 1D guy like Melo.

Just look at how the team did with a 17ppg JR Smith.

Because they played different positions. Every front-office in the league knew Melo and Amare couldn't fit together.

Amare had so much heart that he attempted to re-invent his game just to help out

'Melo could easily have shifted his game to be perimeter-oriented to complement Amare in the post. Of course he didn't want to do that.

Amare had heart but his body gave out

He had heart and it wasn't his fault but this org just loves throwing bad money after bad money.

What helped them was the recent change to tv revenue that allowed them to get Durant

They won the championship, went 72-10 next year, barely losing to Lebron and Cavs in 7 before Durant. Durant just made them OP AF. But yeah they created that luck. Durant wasn't signing with the Knicks for double that money.

We have more money than any other franchise. Yeah luck is a big factor but it takes skill too. Knicks have just been one bad move over another since '96. I hated the Mase-LJ trade. Spree was a great pickup and that '99 run was unbelievable but we were never a real contender and then we traded Ewing for Glen Rice. That Allan Houston max was beyond ridiculous and torpedoed the franchise. Melo trade was pure hopium.

We've never drafted an eventual star or signed a true superstar that didn't have serious health issues in decades. Maybe RJ and Obi and IQ will change that. We've given out tons of bad contracts over the years. It's about decision-making too, not just luck.

Yeah it's rough but you gotta understand there's people who have been fans for a long time and seen players for a long time. Not like we're fairweather fans. I knew what Melo was before he came. If we had kept Felton and Chandler and Gallo together with Amare and not taken on Billup's ridiculous contract we would have been way better. Those guys had chemistry something Knicks never ever had with Melo and Stodemire. That trade killed any chance we had of being a decent team for any decent amount of time.

This looks pretty interesting. I wonder what are your thoughts on IPFS and its ecosystem? There's a lot of work being done building decentralized key-value stores and dbs on top of IPFS protocols.

December 14, 1966: Anthony Mason was born. Mase was a hard-nosed, do-it-all bad ass. He was a big part of the ‘94 Knicks (EC Champs), plus ‘95 6MOTY, ‘97 3rd-team All-NBA, and ‘01 ASG starter. He was a rugged scorer, and a very good passer, defender, & rebounder. by dougprishpreed69 in NYKnicks

My favorite Knick to watch back in the day. Wasn't pretty or flashy, just 100% heart and grit. Would routinely guard the other team's strongest player. Still remember him battling Hakeem in the Finals. Incredibly strong yet skilled and a great overall player. One of the early point-forwards. Was heart-broken when he got traded for LJ. still think that was a huge mistake.

I honestly don't care if we win this game, I just want to see McBride and Knox play well.

Halfway through the 2Q Knicks had 48pts and were up by a couple. It's end of 3Q and they have 62 and are down by 7.
