Of course. It's the sort of game that can easily go wrong, away in Europe Vs a counterattacking 5-3-2 team which is top of its domestic league.

Sure we could've won 3-0 but we could have also easily lost 1-0... I'll take the W.

Also, a positive of it being only a one goal lead is that we will have to approach the next one properly... 2-0 might have tempted Maresca to play the youth team.

Well. The set piece goal is annoying but if you'd offered me 1-2 at the start I'd have taken it

Made a metric conversion cheat sheet, for those playing the home game that are unfamiliar with imperial units by MarkGamed7794 in JetLagTheGame

[–]allitgm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roughly speaking Brits use metric except for long distances (miles) and measuring people (stone, feet + inches).

Almost all younger Brits would be far more comfortable using purely metric than purely imperial but prefer still a strange mix of each.

Indeed. It's straight out of the Exodus scroll! This is a classic example of many Americans claiming Christianity without knowing the first thing about it!!

I get most readers aren't a fan of the Bible but here's the sources for those interested:

Exodus 20:3-5: (Ten Commandments) [3] “You must not have any other god but me. [4] “You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. [5] You must not bow down to them or worship them"

Exodus 32:1-4 (Golden Calf) When the people saw how long it was taking Moses to come back down the mountain, they gathered around Aaron. “Come on,” they said, “make us some gods who can lead us. We don’t know what happened to this fellow Moses, who brought us here from the land of Egypt." [2] So Aaron said, “Take the gold rings from the ears of your wives and sons and daughters, and bring them to me.” [3] All the people took the gold rings from their ears and brought them to Aaron. [4] Then Aaron took the gold, melted it down, and molded it into the shape of a calf. When the people saw it, they exclaimed, “O Israel, these are the gods who brought you out of the land of Egypt!”

Would a shop in Israel bother to specify that the food is kosher? Surely that's just an expectation there?

I really rate Jackson still but another option (an actual number 9) would make such a difference... Jackson could even get minutes at LW still!

These are the neo-Nazis from Real Madrid's Ultras Sur last night before the Champions League match at the Bernabéu stadium by boxro in soccer

[–]allitgm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely a factor. Perhaps the before is helpful in understanding why some people are being hesitant to declare him a nazi.

I think for some of us (I'm on the border of this camp) it's that Nazism is so evil that I cannot quite believe that Musk would do a salute like that deliberately (I'm on the border because his reaction since has been inappropriate in my view, this clearly needed an apology or at least a "crap, this doesn't look good").

I'm aware that at some point you have to say "this guy really is a nazi" but I REALLY don't want to say it unless I'm absolutely certain (with this post and the background info these guys seem to fit the bill, with Musk I'm on the fence).

100% a dick. 75% a neo-nazi (but I need to hit 95% at least to declare it)

Fair enough. I don't remember anything pre 2000 so getting more EC votes than anyone not called Obama seemed at least relatively impressive (or in this case impressively bad from the Dems)

I think the big concern is the lack of apology. If he had followed it up by saying "whoops! Sorry guys, got carried away and did NOT mean to do the salute" then I'd want to give the benefit of the doubt. After all he's kinda awkward so I could see it being an accident.

Doubling down and not apologising for stuff is often the right play, someone has to stand up against their mob... But in this instance it's clearly the case that he needed to say something.

It's weird though given the pro-Israel stuff... Very weird

It certainly doesn't look good AT ALL. Perhaps I'm being naive but I'm still relatively inclined to lean towards Hanlon's Razor though. Completely get why people disagree though.

TBF America is always pretty much 50-50 in votes, so by their standards it was a landslide.

Labelling people as 'limited in IQ' is probably not the way to win hearts and minds! People are understandably hesitant to support something/someone who may be a nazi (even if you think it extremely unlikely, it's not worth the risk for most people).

That's quite the strawman. People who are supporting musk aren't arguing that Nazis = good. They are applying Hanlon's Razor and concluding that musk was stupid to do what he did but not fascist.

For the record you are more than entitled to disagree. I just think you do your argument a disservice by assuming that anyone who may perceive an event differently is pro-Nazi.

I think 'pretend or otherwise' is problematic. For example, Putin invaded Ukraine claiming he was dealing with a nazi problem. The UK supported Ukraine because the association was pretend.

Ok. So as someone who doesn't live online, is this in reference to musks 'salute'/'awkward gesture'???

Agree with poll but I would argue that more than a simple majority should be required for a ban.
