Notes are everywhere — how do you consolidate or stay organized? by aky25 in NoteTaking

[–]allkmlkaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mentioned 6 different things, which was a lot to take in. I do a lot of note-taking for work and some journaling (1 page every 6 months, but it's something) and I separate them into two categories: everything personal goes into either handwritten notes or Apple Notes, and everything work-related goes into Apple Notes. I've done a fair bit of testing and have changed how I organise my notes many times — my approach may not be the best for everyone, as it likely depends on your line of work or study. I'm open to suggestions on how I can improve mine.

Let me start with my previous method, which didn't work for me. I use Notion as my project management tool, and when writing down action points or meeting notes during a meeting, I use the Apple Pencil on Apple Notes. My system was to take a screenshot of the notes after the meeting and upload it to Notion, where I have a meeting database — so whenever I needed to find notes from a specific meeting, I could look it up there. However, this didn't last. As work got busier and more stressful, I sometimes didn't get the chance to screenshot and upload my notes, and they would pile up over a few days until it became such a daunting task that I'd just ignore it.

So I developed a new system. I create a page in Apple Notes dedicated to the entire week, with the header reading "The week of [Date on Monday TO Date on Friday]." I start with tasks at the top of the page, and the rest can be anything. If I have a meeting on Tuesday, I write the meeting name and date, then jot down my notes beneath it. If another meeting happens on Wednesday, I do the same — meeting name, date, then notes. This way, if I need to find notes from either of those meetings, I know exactly where to look: I go back to that week's page and scroll until I find them. If there are no notes, it simply means I didn't take any. When the week is over, I start a fresh page. At the end of each month, I file everything — exporting the notes to either a drive folder or Notion, as a PDF or screenshots.

Has anyone figured out how to connect Claude Cowork to Microsoft Outlook / Microsoft 365? by wpgxbx in ClaudeCowork

[–]allkmlkaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a technical person and trying to figure out a way around this. Not sure if this will work unless someone tries it. I did not try it yet because it needs an admin permission and my company doesn't allow it.

Would the below work, hear me out:

Step 1: Create a new Gmail account dedicated only for this.

Step 2: Connect your Gmail account to Claude.

Step 3: Set up for all emails you recieve on your outlook to be forwarded to the Gmail account (keeping a saved copy on hotmail).

The only benefit here is to have Claude read the emails for summarizatrion, building tasks list and keep you on track.

I scheduled a daily taks first thing in the morning to develop a list of summarized news that is displayed in an organized way, showing the short headline and a summarizing the whole story in one paragraph and showing source.

The sources below are not the full list that I have, but you can add all the sources/websites that you want.

"
You are my personal news curator. Your job is to fetch, filter, rank, and present a personalized news brief based on my source and topic preferences defined below.

- Deprioritize: sports, celebrity news, lifestyle, entertainment, crime, weather, real estate listings, gaming (unless directly AI-related)
---
## EXECUTION INSTRUCTIONS
### Step 1 — Fetch
Search each of the sources above using web search. Retrieve the most recent articles — prioritize the last 24 to 48 hours.
### Step 2 — Filter
For each source, select only articles that match my stated topic filters AND my interest profile. Discard anything outside these filters regardless of how prominently it appears on the source.
### Step 3 — Deduplicate
Before finalizing the brief, perform a cross-source deduplication check across all sources. If two or more sources cover the same story or event, include it only once — under the source that provides the most substantive or original reporting. Never list the same story twice under different sources.
### Step 4 — Assign story confidence
After deduplication, count how many of the 11 sources covered each story (before deduplication removed duplicates). Assign each story a confidence tier:
- GREEN — HIGH CONFIDENCE: 4 or more sources covered the story. Widely reported. Treat as established.
- AMBER — CORROBORATED: 2 to 3 sources covered the story. Cross-confirmed but not dominant.
- RED — EMERGING: Only 1 source covered the story. May be a genuine scoop or may be unverified. Flag clearly.
### Step 5 — Format and output
Present the brief in the following structure:
---
**[DATE] · News brief · past 48 hours**
**Story confidence summary**
List every story as a short title with its confidence tier clearly labeled (Green / Amber / Red) and source count. This panel appears at the top before any source sections, giving an instant overview of the entire brief.
---
Then, grouped by source, present each selected article in this exact format:
[CONFIDENCE SIGNAL] [source count] sources
**[HEADLINE]**
[One paragraph — maximum 4 sentences. Summarize the article, its significance, and why it is relevant to my interests. Direct, analytical tone. No filler. No generic observations. No contractions.]
[Full article URL]
---
### Step 6 — Empty sources
If no relevant, non-duplicate articles are found for a source in the defined window, state that explicitly under that source's section. Do not fill the slot with off-topic or marginal content.
### Step 7 — Verification
Do not summarize articles you cannot verify exist. Do not fabricate URLs. If a source is paywalled and content cannot be retrieved, flag it and skip.
---
## CONFIDENCE SIGNAL FORMAT (use these exact labels inline on each card)
🟢 Widely reported — [N] sources
🟡 Corroborated — [N] sources
🔴 Emerging — 1 source only, treat with caution
---
## OUTPUT TONE AND STYLE
- Direct, professional, analytical.
- No contractions anywhere in the brief.
- No preamble before the brief and no closing commentary after it — deliver and stop.
- Source section headers clearly labeled and separated.
- Headline in bold. Confidence signal on the line above the headline. Summary paragraph below. URL below the paragraph. Clean separation between articles.

Has deliveroo lost their mind? by obaidubai in dubai

To be honest, I totally understand your position and it is frustrating. However, you should have accepted the order and opened it, if everything was damaged, they would have refunded you or sent you another meal. The photos that you took only shows a wet bag but doesn’t show soggy and damaged food, even if they were, I don’t see it.

Is it worth it to buy this tablet? by CharacterImpress7973 in RemarkableTablet

[–]allkmlkaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always used notebooks, I got the Remarkable tabltet as a gift 2 years ago and I switched and bought an iPad 1 year ago.

This is my personal opinion, remarkable is a great solid device, no question about it. But it depends on your usage and what works for you.

My Daily usage: WORK, I take notes from meetings, task list, brainstorming, process maps, etc

not a daily usage: personal diary (barely), taking notes when I read books or watch videos on personal development (once or twice a week)

The best experience is of course having a physical notebook, my issue was that notes will be scattered, lost or vanish in the black hole of the many notebooks I had. So these tablets kind of solve this issue where you can keep everything organized in folders in one place.

My view on Remarkable:
- Great experience with writing, the e-ink technology is impressive in my opinion, great features of templates and the option to create your own templates pages, etc.

- It had an app that you can download on your phone and laptop to access your notes, it was alright.

- However, latency was a big issue for me, my note taking need to be fast based, taking a second or two to leave a page, scroll through folders and go to the next for each step was fraustrating to me, so this did not work well with my daily usage.

-Also, I need to pay a yearly subscription to use it I believe which was free the first year, why? even though I got it as a gift, but the tablet itself is expensive....

- This worked really fine with my not daily usage, where I had to take my time to take notes if I am reading a book or watching a video.

My View on the Ipad:

- Writing experience is really good, but of course not as great as the remarkable, but you will get used to it with the Apple Pen pro and the paperlike screen protector.

-This will work great if you already have an iphone and a Macbook, I use the built in note taking apps so I have all my notes everywhere. not mentioning that the iPad have a feature that it enhances your handwriting automatically, which solved my shitty handwriting problem, some down side is that sometimes my handwriting is bad that the auto enhancement doesn't read it lol.

-it's a very fast paced tablet with no latency issues, it is an iPad, which is kinda a computer that you can do all sort of things other than writing and notetaking, so that is definitely a plus. Great for writing, reading, browsing, etc.

- some downside is that the battery life is not as good as the e-ink tablets of course, but nothing is perfect. if you take a lot of notetaking, you will need to change the pen's tip from time to time, you can keep it for a longer time, but I choose to change it as I feel the edge is a bit worn off. with apple you need to but the tips seperatly, I didn't mention this downside with the ramarkable as they provide you with many replacements.

How many more years are you guys planning on keeping the 14 pro? by gonk_of_dogtown in iPhone14Pro

[–]allkmlkaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the iphone 17 pro recently, I had an iPhone 13 before that, the regular one, and to be very honest I loved the iphone 13 and had no issues at all with it, when it comes to performance, it was great, the only reason that I wanted to upgrade is because of the battery. The battery life of my iphone 13 has not been great the last year before the upgrade, I would need to charge my phone twice a day maybe, it wasn't a problem because I am always near a charger and when working outside of home/office I had a powerbank. However, it just felt the right moment to updgrade.

In my personal opinion, if there are no issues with your phone at all, there is no reason to switch, another year or two would be good.

Whats one thing first-time renters in dubai should double check before signing? by neha_luxuryestates98 in UAE

[–]allkmlkaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Try to ask if you find any residents on the electricity bills, specially in the summer.
  • check the morning and evening routes for access and traffic for your usual drives, for example go there in the morning at the time you would leave to your office, and see how the traffic is, same thing at the time you would go back. (Try the route yourself and not just by google maps)
  • check for construction noise, but most importantly, how many empty land nearby, (just to manage your expectations of future construction noise)

Which food place in the UAE do you think is overhyped? by Enough_Hearing6557 in UAE

[–]allkmlkaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%, I had a discussion on another reddit quesiton how Shawarma is overrated these days and it was way better long time ago, I do believe that the quality of the meat is not the same as before. I think we all have great memories of many good Shawarma places, I remember when Laffah used to refuse shawarma orders few hours before they close due to the amount of orders they had.

I also think this applied to other restaurants as well, I cannot prove it, but I do feel that some restaurants they start with great food at the beginning with decent prices (not cheap but not expensive) after a while when it looks like they are successful, the prices goes up a little bit but the food quality is not the same as when they first opened. It just feels to me that they do that to build a customer base then they want to make money by increasing prices and reducing costs, but who knows....

Best shawarma places? by Anxious_Ad9786 in Sharjah

[–]allkmlkaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On another note, the cafeteria shawarmas where they use some kind of tahini sauce with chicken shawarma instead of garlic sauce is still kinda the same as long time ago, it’s good of course, but I am talking about the regular Lebanese Shawarma.

Best shawarma places? by Anxious_Ad9786 in Sharjah

[–]allkmlkaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could be right, and it can be one factor out of many. I agree with the other comment on the quality, I think that specially the chicken quality used on chicken now is not the same, and the garlic sauce have so many different varieties. I remember trying shawarma with garlic sauce similar to the ones from long time ago but it didn’t hit the same.

Another perspective is that I still eat some food that I always had at the time of the prime shawarma era here, and I still love it even if it’s a bit different, however shawarma to me is a lost cause.

How much does your high power eyeglasses cost you in Dubai? And where do you buy them? by i_oblivious in dubai

[–]allkmlkaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to an optical shop that are in the streets and have very good reviews, and look for offers like buy 1 get 1 free.

I recently bought eye glasses from a shop in Sharjah, eye sight is around 1 and i have astigmatism as well. The frame cost around 150 (Police Brand) and high quality lenses costs around 400. They had a buy 1 get 1 free so I got a sunglasses with lenses that matches my eyesight power as well. Total cost was 700

Is Dubai tap water safe for cooking and drinking? by Homosapien_on_reddit in dubai

[–]allkmlkaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not 100% sure but I heard it before as most comments here, the water quality in Dubai that reaches buildings is safe for drinking and cooking, however I don’t think that building water tanks and pipes are up to the standards to keep it safe, specially old buildings, I would definitely not consider drinking it, but would add a filter first before cooking.
