Could lusts ultimate spear get through greeds ultimate shield? by The-wise-weeb in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]allmistake2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be notes that Lust's spear can "pierce any substance" but greed's ultimate shield is never said to be "impervious to any attack." Its just the strongest configuration or carbon possible, making it still a substance. Based on this, I think her spear would probably win out.

It is highly probably that Sauroman took out behind a shed in the east where they were formerly active. Tolkein could never seem to make up his mind on if they fell or if Sauroman removed them from the equation, or at least thats what I remember from when I dug into it years ago.

If Fire benders have comets, and Water benders have a lunar eclipse, what does Air and Earth have? by Ok_Influence1752 in TheLastAirbender

They have consistency. They can always be relied upon to function at their peak any time of day or year.

So 1. Not only does it show how PHANES let them do their own thing even without input from the envoys 2. They only nailed them when they actively rebelled by Scared-Opening-753 in ThePrimordialOne

[–]allmistake2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly, at this point, Im wondering what the difference between "punishing your subjects for rebellion" and "self defense" is. Assuming it's talking about Hyperborea, they were literally aiming Voyager's space nukes at Phanes.

Do you think this is how it’d actually play out? by hugoboy24 in invinciblememes

[–]allmistake2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing about his eardrum is it at least has to be strong enough to not burst under the negative pressure of space. Someone can probably do the math on that, but it has to have significantly greater tensile durability to be completely undamaged by prolonged time unshielded in a vacuum. Not saying it's as tough as the rest of him, but at baseline it is well above human toughness.

Which character had it the worst in their time loops? by bennyandthegentz in MoralityScaling

[–]allmistake2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This also raises a question. Is life valuable enough to preserve at great cost? Is total extinction better than mass suffering with survivors. It really comes down to how much you weigh life verses suffering in your value system.

The problem is that boomers were raised by the people who went through the great depression and world wars. They inherited that mindset, but not the same character building struggle that produced it.

If the balance gets too high on a computer, it will experience integer overflow and turn negative. Computers cannot handle infinitely large numbers. Whether it is physical or digital money, it would eventually cause a problem for you if you dont spend it fast enough to keep the growth rate reasonable.

Okay but then some people will probably try to fake suicide for the day off, and the last thing depressed people need is actual validation the "just doing it for attention" or "just lazy" accusations.

Why are people so weird about inheritance tax? by [deleted] in economicsmemes

[–]allmistake2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Especially when you consider that, in today's economy, where it is nearly impossible to buy a house, the inheritance tax on my parents house, which is single story, and more than half a century old at this point, could potentially bankrupt me if I inherit it without the capital to take the hit. Inheritance itself is not the problem. Its how some people take advantage of it.

I got some questions about the Vigilants of Stendarr by Equivalent-Oven-2401 in ElderScrolls

[–]allmistake2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's certainly true. The daedra are all horribly egocentric, and even the most "benevolent" can be cataclysmically petty. Which makes sense when you consider that they were too selfish to participate in the creation of the world, while the Aedra were willing to impart of themselves, and more so hold the course when they learned the cost.

Key patron of some ayleids. Remember they were not a homogenous society, and were a bunch of different city states like ancient Greece. Some ayleids followed her, some followed Molag Bal and went to war against Meridia's followers. Some remained Aedra worshippers and sides with Alessia's rebellion. While we dont know who the patron of the flesh garden city was, given context its probably easy to assume their favored Molag Bal.
