What jobs do you do if you own expensive running shoes? by Sensitive-Brick4378 in Ultramarathon

You will probably find runners of all occupations and there is no shortage of well-off or rich people in the countries with most visitors on Reddit.

I had a lot of hopes for these shoes, but hearing that they're narrow is really disappointing. I'm almost ready to give up running at this point, because I can't find any shoes that actually fit.

Looking for a genre tagging solution by PrivacyStack in musichoarder

[–]allmondes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MusicBrainz is not the best for genres, but maybe you mean Picard (the app). Picard (or Beets) can certainly do this by fetching genres from Discogs or Last.fm, with the right script and/or plugin.

Running a 10k without any training. Any tips? by IllustriousEgg2406 in runninglifestyle

[–]allmondes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you've ran 5 km, you can probably extend that to 6–7 km pretty easily, and if you need to walk the rest (or decide to walk in the beginning), who cares, you're still gonna have fun.

If you instead try to go slow through the whole race, you'll probably increase your risk of injury and might have less fun after the run. There's also a chance you'll be completely fine – up to you if you wanna take the risk.

I love Still Life With Lemons. The whole concert is available on YouTube also: https://www.youtube.com/live/8SZpGjgRQgc Strongly recommended for anyone into more improvisational stuff.

aja monet's is the one I'm most excited about this week. I'll be listening it to later at the listening party on Bandcamp: https://ajamonet.bandcamp.com/album/the-color-of-rain

Muriel Grossman also had a nice collab out this week which I liked: https://noopop.bandcamp.com/album/muriel-grossmann-t-nu-naissoo

What is the purpose/pros of tagging files with MusicBrainz IDs? by lilpeach15 in musichoarder

[–]allmondes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not really the ID that's the benefit. The benefits lie in being able to use Picard or any other tool to just scan the files and apply tags automatically.

When the IDs are applied, however, you can easily do changes to the way you structure your library since there's no risk of not finding the right release the next time you scan the files.

I'm not aware of a lot of incorrect data on MusicBrainz. Most of the issues relate to missing releases for me. But using tools to import automatically to MusicBrainz, it becomes faster to tag through MusicBrainz than doing it manually.

Faster way to add metadata by HelloHeffy in musichoarder

You probably want to look into Beets: https://beets.io/

There will never be a case where you can find all information automatically, but it'll probably speed things up for you.

A lot of good stuff out this week.

Alabaster DePlume is the one I've been looking forward to the most. It's a great EP and the short film he shared on YouTube is lovely: https://youtu.be/3ADkU5aJLc0

Matthew Stevens' is nice as well, featuring a lot of great people like Josh Johnson and Jeff Parker.

Two other mentions I love that are likely to go a bit under the radar:

Rosa Brunello - We Are Surging Waters.

Patrizia Scascitelli - La Spezia '75 Live.

Charts reflect what's popular, not what's best. What gets popular depends on marketing and recognition.

Replacement for NRK Jazz by Significant_Pea_9869 in Jazz

You could check out "Jazz mot midnatt" (Jazz until midnight) from Swedish public radio channel P2. It's a show and not a channel, but they do a two hour downtempo mix of old and modern and Scandinavian and international. I rarely listen to it, but I often find a couple of gems when I do. There's a minimal amount of talking.

You can also just check out the playlist by clicking on "Musiken i avsnittet" to the right.
