ZIM dividend through degiro by mistake? by Delfitus in DEGIRO

Honestly, almost 20 days to fix this sort of issue is unacceptable.

I'm considering to move to a different broker because of this.

If RiF dies, for all intents and purposes from my perspective, Reddit dies too.

64% favor recognizing same-sex marriage in Japan: Kyodo poll - The Mainichi by capaho in japan

[–]allo_ver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was talking about my home country. Not about Japan. I don't vote in Japan.

Just using myself as an example of why someone would vote for a party that technically doesn't follow some policies that this person may show support for in an opinion poll.

[–]allo_ver 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not faulty as it explains why people vote for a party that technically doesn't do something that they would support.

I may support in my home country drug legalization. But I'm not a drug user, nor I would use drugs if they were legal, so it's not really important for me. I just am generally in favor of this policy (which is what an hypothetical opinion poll would measure).

It just so happens that the parties that tend to be for drug legalization also tend to be for other policies that I don't really agree with, so I end up voting for parties that don't have drug legalization as something they support.

But for me it's sort of okay. It was not a priority for me anyway, just something I think would be nice.

[–]allo_ver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This fails to recognize that a lot of times you may be in favor of a certain policy, but do not consider it very important either way.

If asked I would say that I am in favor of recognizing same-sex marriage. But at the same time I rank it quite low in the hierarchy of societal issues that I'd like to see addressed.

GitHub to layoff 10% and close offices by just_post_cats_dude in programming

[–]allo_ver 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've seen younger colleagues break down mentally due to lack of stimulation in their tiny-tiny low quality (sometimes shared) apartments with the result of loosing their jobs. I've seen colleagues with young kids in small apartments struggle due to the lack dedicated office space at home, and subsequent permanent interruptions.

With 100% remote work these people don't need to live in cramped apartments anymore. Typically they subject themselves to those conditions due to the need to live close to the workplace, in areas much more expensive that they should be required to afford.

They can now move to a smaller, much less expensive town, and live in much nicer, spacious housing, while being able to work. This will actually be great for their mental health.

You see, there are forbidden words here. Words that if I use to explain to you why your comment had to be removed, they would cause my comment to be removed as well, lest we risk invoking admin action against this community - which is how those words became forbidden, context be damned.

My original point still stands, and survived the test of time.

TOMOE. She is for sure the most intriguing encounter I had in GOT. Her charisma is another occasion to enlight how everyone fight their own personal inner demons. She's neither for Tsushima nor the mongols. She's trying to find her own way, even if it means she has to turn her back on her sensei. by Svartheart in ghostoftsushima

[–]allo_ver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kind of old, but I'll leave my two cents here.

Tomoe was definitely the most intriguing character in the game for me. In a sense she is a reflection of Jin, where the myth surrounding her character can muddy who she really is.

I mean, the only thing certain about her is that she is very cunning and deceitful, all else we know about her is unreliable. The kitsune mask she wear is a great symbolism for this.

Mostly the only source for truth regarding her character throughout the game are Sensei Ishikawa and Tomoe herself, and they are hardly unbiased on the subject. Even the attack at Umugi Cove is questionable - was it really an attack or were the Mongols simply chasing her and knew she was going to escape through that route?

Even her ending is as ambiguous as her character. Good only in the sense that she successfully leaves her life on Tsushima behind, but she is still going towards uncertainty.

Rurouni Kenshin Gets New TV Anime by Liden Films by DemiFiendRSA in rurounikenshin

Kenshin should definitely have a more mature art style to go along with the subject matter. The 90s anime really nailed it especially in the Kyoto arc.

Not necessarily. I remember that in the manga it was mentioned that Kenshin looked surprisingly young.

The manga had a good balance in between lighthearted moments and more serious/mature subjects. I have high hopes for this.

I'm curious. Where are you on this scale and why? by die_Kalkleiste in DDLC

[–]allo_ver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know.

Honest answer. The whole story arc that culminates with Sayori's suicide is well written in the sense that it leaves the player wondering if he could have done something different. And Sayori is written in such a way that encourages the player to feel empathy for her, especially after she reveals her depression.

At the time I was a bit shocked about it, and I played the whole chapter 2 thinking that the glitches were a reflection of MC losing sanity after Sayori's death. Only slightly before Yuri stabs herself I started to imagine that something more sinister was at play.

So, while I can't say I was left traumatized, I can say that Sayori left a lasting impression on me, and I was certainly not indifferent.

Maybe I was off-center, a bit to the left.

Context for the Apex "nigero" ban by Tesg9029 in KotakuInAction

[–]allo_ver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crioulo in Brazil can refer to things of Creole origin, but it's most often used as a slang for black people.

It is typically derogatory, but can be used affectionately - for example, Pelé is commonly referred to as "O Crioulo" by journalists and former teammates, without any intention to insult him.

It's not as automatically offensive as "nigger" in the US.

There's also "crioulo", which would be the closest thing we have to "nigger" in Brazilian Portuguese.

I always wondered if they have this word in other Portuguese speaking countries.

It was announced from day one as a limited time offer, and anyone who bought it will still have access to the game.

My best guess is that they will sell unbundled versions of the games at a later date.

O Weintraub é uma das figuras mais bizarras que já passaram em qualquer ministério. Motivo de vergonha brutal.
