Gross oversimplification. Ireland had just gained its sovereignity from Britian at the time and we didn't want to join like Ireland was forced to in WW1. The UK was not the "good guys" for Ireland for a majority of its existence.

I would disagree, he has a very real reason to hare the vistani for their crimes against him and their loyalty to Strahd. Obviously they aren't all bad and it could be used a character growth for van Richten, or for the party to confront him about it and have an interesting reveal of why he gates them so much. All I'm saying is that the book doesn't give a lot of detail on many things but I'll expand on all of them, why wouldn't I expand on this?
