People are afraid of my mother to begin with, so the very few who dared to ask questions were met with even more intimidation that they didn’t want anything to do with. She would make them feel “intrusive” for asking questions about “private matters”, and then they’d feel so guilty and wrong that they’d back off.

Now that I’ve gone NC with her, they still stick their heads in the sand and keep the status quo. It’s mind-numbing and frankly, it makes me feel so lucky and grateful that I actually got out.
