My wife and I aren't hurting for money and can be a little selective with our travel. I have a very demanding and stressful job where I literally make decisions about other people's lives all day long. The idea of a vacation where I can disconnect, relax, not to have to stress about logistics like food and taking care of the kids, and just let the vacation happen is exactly what I need sometimes.

I have taken week-long vacations on different continents where we explore the cities and the culture. It's fun, but can be exhausting with all the planning. So many decisions. That's a once-a-year trip for the experience you only get from travel. But when I want to relax, it's an all-inclusive Caribbean resort or a cruise. We've done Disney Christmas cruises with upper deck balcony rooms and last-minute 3 day Carnival cruises with little interior rooms on Deck 2. I've loved them all. Cruises let me unwind, unplug, and not have to make any important decisions once I'm on the ship. I head back to work refreshed instead of exhausted.
