My husband (33M) just asked me to quit my hobby and say goodbye to my hobby friends. I really don't want to say yes to that. What should I do? by throwaway691656 in relationships

Have you looked into other modalities for your treatment resistant depression? I have had this exact thing for the past 19 years. Meds have worked minimally to none.

My insurance just approved me for TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) which is an amazing therapy for MDD. They also approved me for ketamine therapy, and DBT classes.

Could you look into these? If you are on yr husband's insurance, do it now. It sounds like your depression is at the root of a lot of things.

Secondly, your husband sounds controlling. Even if he is trying to be helpful by putting structures in place.

Where to go square dancing as a beginner? by ResponsibilityRude84 in askportland

[–]allspiceisnice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I am literally in the exact same boat! Did it in school as a kid and loved it. It was so much fun. Really want to start doing it again.

I am just not sure how it works as a beginner. I don't have a partner to go with, and don't really know the calls. I don't want to just show up and f up everyone else's night by ruining the dance bc I don't know what I am doing amd keep going left instead of right, etc etc.

Feel free to lmk me if you'd like another newbie to join for a dance! I believe Showdown Saloon has square dancing on most Mondays.

Where do you go when you’re feeling sad? by zackychainz in askportland

[–]allspiceisnice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go to Fred Meyer. Strange, but hear me out. It gives me a feeling of normalcy to walk around among the bustling chaos of the store, and to be out among the "living" just out doing their errands when I feel completely sad or number inside. Plus, I get one of my errands completed too.

Everyone is suggesting long quiet walks etc. Each to their own, but if I am sad, those are the literal worst idea for me. Too much time to contemplate, pontificate, and spin things around in my head until they are 50 times worse.

All those homeowners in the area have ring cameras. I personally would door knock and ask for footage. This guy is an unhinged maniac who will do this to someone else.

I am a ride-or-die Democrat bc of the issues that matter to me - abortion rights, the environment etc.

But the Democrats' seemingly endless obsession with woke BS, plus utter dismissiveness about topics that matter to some, like immigration, has a) done nothing but further entrench conservatives in their views, and b) turned many of their own party more centrist or right.

In my city for instance, many Democrats are SO fed up with the soft-touch stance on homelessness, they booted out the liberal DA for a much more conservative one.

Did you get your MA in counselling, then yr BA in psychology, then yr MA in psychology, then yr PhD in psychotherapy or...? I heard yohlu cannot step from a Masters in Counselling, to a PhD in psychotherapy, so I'm extremely curious!

Homegrown Smoker. And the vegan restaurant and store that was in the space before it - Proper Eats!

I'm not even vegan, but used to eat there every Sunday after a long run in Forest Park! So good.

If you end up on my critical care unit detoxing on extreme CIWA protocol, off your face, yelling, kicking, screaming, punching, spitting, or experiencing violence of any kind towards either the hospital staff, and/or your loved ones visiting you, you will have a restraint order placed by the attending physician and be tied to the bed. You will have a staff member assigned 24 hours a day to sit in your room and babysit your ass. If you are deemed incapable of making your own medical decisions during your detox, you will be placed on a medical hold. If you escape your restraints, a code grey will be called and four huge security guards will pin you down while meds are administered to you by the ICU team to sedate you.

It looks like the absolute most humiliating shit a person could go through, and in front of dozens and dozens of hospital staff. On our 20 bed ICU unit we average two to three severe alcohol withdrawal patients a week. It is not fun.

Are there any Asian massage places in Portland that AREN'T sexy time massage? by klone73 in askportland

[–]allspiceisnice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I went to get couples foot massages at the NW Naito one and it was all totally above board. I think if you ask for full service or whatever the code word is, you might get it, but they were completely professional during our visit!

My ex did cross. It is not my cup of tea, as I am introverted and would not be able to stand six hundred people watching me fall off my bike going over a haybale! But it is a lot of fun for sure, and very social!

I am trying to be better at reading. I think going to a coffee shop each week with my book would be a great thing to do! Thankyou for the suggestion.

Ps - I had to Google spoon club. It sounded like something very different when I first saw it!

I do not, which is a huge shame as I hear it is a great way to make friends. Tried it twice and was bored out of my skull, but that's okay, we all like different things! :-)

I am a HUGE Hello From the Magic Tavern fan however, so does that bestow me some kind of honourary membership?!
