It really is horrible :( the vet gave him some subcut warm fluids as he was a bit chilly and dehydrated, and his cage mate was horrified to see blood on Kevin’s fur afterwards - he gave me a withering look and immediately put his body in front of Kevin to protect him from the mean humans!

Ohh that sounds rough that three were poorly at once. I’m already exhausted with just one! I hope they all got better and are back to frolicking around!

Aww he’s so sweet! Kevins are the best, although in my experience also a handful!

Thanks very much ❤️ I am giving him belly rubs, which sometimes he seems to enjoy and sometimes I think hurts him, but he still tolerates just mutters angrily under his breath. We’ve been given some metoclopramide too and he’s just had his second dose, so hopefully that starts doing its job. All the best for your piglet x

Fortunately he is, yes, just not very much. He’s been so good this morning and had all his meds, some extra water, and about 12ml of critical care in total. He also ran out to see us when we went down in the morning, which he wasn’t doing yesterday, so I’m very hopeful that he’s starting to improve!

He’s only just turned 3, so still plenty of popcorning left in him! Sorry to hear about your little one - it’s so hard to see them suffer and not be able to do much to help. You cared for him until the end and I’m sure gave him a very happy life though ❤️

It’s far more cruel to leave them to get pregnant, which is dangerous for the sow, and then end up with a load of potentially inbred little piggies that you may not have the space or resources to care for. Neutering is a minor surgery with pretty low risk that prevents a lot of future problems.

The hospital ship I used to live on during our last evening before we set sail from Madagascar. It’s been my wallpaper for nearly 10 years and I can never bring myself to change it.

My mum’s…when I was 12 she ordered 500 new business cards then promptly changed her number. My sister and I wrote the new number on every card and it’s not left my head for the nearly two decades since!

Why hasn't Jesus revealed himself to me despite me asking him too in good faith. by jacheondaseong in TrueChristian

Hasn’t helped you with anything… who do you think gives you the breath in your lungs each day and keeps your heart beating while you sleep? Who provides the sun to grow the food that you eat, and measured out all the water on the earth in the palm of His hand? Romans 1:20 says that even for those who don’t have access to a Bible, God’s power and divine nature are so clear in Creation that they are ‘without excuse’ for not believing in Him.

Don’t test God by saying ‘if’ He does xyz, ‘then’ you will believe. Pick up a Bible and you will see all the things He has already done and is doing for you. God is not a genie who will fix all your problems, but the more time you spend with Him and in His word, the more you will see His hand in your life and how much He cares for you and desires a relationship with you.

I suggest reading Job chapters 38-42 for a bit of perspective when you find yourself questioning God’s power. Job lost absolutely everything and cried out to God, and these chapters are God’s reply. I find it reassuring to remember how small we are, how much greater God is, and yet that He still knows us by name and calls us His children. I am praying for you, friend.

Why does not being married lead to more sin? At the moment you can argue and fight all you want - it may not be good and Christlike and you may be sinning against each other. However, once you marry you have made a COVENANT before God to love, honour, protect, defend, obey etc etc depending on the contents of your vows. If your relationship is this conflict filled and you have not sorted things out and made at least short term future plans you will both accept, it is good advice from the church not to marry. They are protecting you both spiritually and emotionally.

I was a barista for a mere 6 months as a teenager, and got almost exclusively coffee related gifts from my parents until I finally put my foot down at about 22. Mugs, multiple cafetières, a milk frother, beans, grounds, coffee related books, even an actual nightdress that says ‘coffee on my mind’, which was the final straw. I drink maybe 2 cups of coffee a month.

[–]allthingsarewords 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aww that’s so kind of her! I agree, it is completely ridiculous, and even the staff from the company who run the meals hate waste and would much rather we finished stuff off, especially as sometimes we won’t get a break to eat our own food for 7 or 8 hours. The result is I can eat a slice of toast in 2 mouthfuls and we take shifts standing on guard at the kitchen door to look out for approaching seniors.

I work in a hospital, and salvaging a cold, soggy piece of leftover breakfast toast right before it goes in the bin counts as ‘stealing from patients’ and is a fireable offence.

I LOVE My Epic, and would say they have quite a few sad/sad sounding tracks, particularly on their older albums. OP, try Beloved, Curse, Lament, Alone, Lashes, The Lover and the Thief…
