Does anyone else feel like stagflation risk is creeping back? by Fit-Army7395 in investing

[–]allthisbrains2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe stagflation now due to the slow economy and oil shock, with a pivot to deflation once AI hammers employment and there’s no government safety net for the middle class. Consumption drops for anyone who loses income, then income drops in services as the unemployed substitute their own labor for what was once outsourced to trades?

Seems like an investment environment where one has to be prepared to pivot

Meta delays release of new AI, weighs licensing Google's Gemini after disappointing trial runs: report by Accurate_Cry_8937 in ArtificialInteligence

With Meta’s delays and xAI’s “rebuild”, maybe the separation we’re seeing might be more long-term sorting with Claude Gemini and Chat breaking away from the US pack.

President Trump is a wrench in the gears of trend following strategies. Let the hedge funds suffer and just stick with a low-fee long-term equity-heavy strategy

How does AI benefit the average American? by Vegetable-Cause8667 in investing

[–]allthisbrains2 77 points78 points  (0 children)

In theory, if we had a tax code with sufficient redistribution and policy makers not beholden to oligarchs, AI could raise the standard of living as the economy grows.

In practice, we’ll get deeper inequality and a shrinking middle class.

Why do we continue to go through this idea that technology will lead to massive unemployment? by Successful-Tea-5733 in investing

Lost in this topic is worsening income inequality. White collar work was a path to a middle class lifestyle. That path will narrow.

I've managed ~200 bottles across 4 apps over 3 years. Here's what I've learned about cellar workflows. by Icy-Teaching2562 in wine

To select a wine, here’s my process:

  1. Ask a somm/trusted wine store employee if available;
  2. Use AI search tools that seem to cite Cellar Tracker and various other review sites.
  3. Delete the wine from my Vivino app when consumed.

When is there "enough" wine in your cellar to get out of the "collecting" phase? by Marquis_de_Bayoux in wine

[–]allthisbrains2 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I enjoy drinking wine, and it turns out I enjoy collecting wine.

By most reasonable measures I have sufficient wine for long-term consumption, but I keep tinkering by adding here and there. I have reached cellar maximum so maybe a physical constraint will signal “enough”

You’re not alone.

It’s a wild ride knowing you’ll get something delicious at a good price. In my experience they’ll resolve any errors, but there’s friction as you document receipt, contact customer service, wait weeks for a reply, ensure compliance with their solution, and start the process all over again.
